Most of the tracks that we have for NR2003, the pit stalls are matching the starting line up. Just like it has been from the beginning. The pole sitter gets the first stall, while 2nd place gets the 2nd stall, all the way down to 43rd. I have seen some tracks coming out recently that have random pit stalls. Where it is similar to the real Sprint Cup Series races when the teams get to pick their pit stalls. So the pole sitter may still have that 1st pit stall but the 2nd place starter could get the 22nd pit stall. My question, is there a simple way to get the random pit stalls like that? Or do you have to open the track up in sandbox? Thanks in advance. I did do a search for this question but it came up with no results found.

The stalls are listed in the track.ini section. Below it what it looks like (this is from Mesa09_night):

Yes, just change the stall numbers. 0 is the pole, 1 is 2nd qualifier, 2 is 3rd qualifier, and so on. If you wanted the outside pole sitter to have the 22nd pit stall you would change it to this,

stall_20 = 768.08 36.15 0.00
stall_1 = 759.80 36.15 0.00
stall_22 = 751.53 36.15 0.00

just be sure that stall 0 and stall 42 are not changed or else pit speed limit issues can arise.

OBTW, just another bit of useless information. Most, if not all of the new track releases contain multiple track.ini files from which you could pick the one that matches pit spot to qualify results.

Not necessarily true...I got outside pole once and was placed in the first pit stall with an opening in front of it...an access to the garage.

I agree with you Highbank. A lot of useful information that was given out. The main reason I asked this was because I would like to practice pit stops during the practice session. It makes a little more difficult to practice when your pit stall is in the middle of pit road. Instead of having the first pit stall.

Now excuse me for acting stupid with this. I just want to make sure I am doing this right when I make my edits. All I have to do is go into the track.ini file. Then just change the pit stall numbers? I don't have the change the pit stall coordinates or whatever they may be called? But I can't change pit stall 0, which would be the pole sitter or pit stall 42, which would be the 43rd starter. What kind of pit road speed limit issues could arise if I changed those?

Thank you TOMMAGNUS. I will have to look for that next time I download one of the newer tracks.

Cattard, I am guessing you are talking about Dover there. That is the only track I can think of that has an opening to the garage in front of the first pit stall. Unless it was a fictional track.

Thank you everybody for the information you have given me on this. I appreciate it.

Well yes and no. When you are done the stalls still need to be in order from zero to 42 or what the max starters is. The other number or coordinate as you call it is just the location of the stall and do not need to be in order. They are the numbers that actually determine where the pit stall is. Don't change these numbers or you will have bigger problems. I know that it will take some work but the easiest way to change the stalls is to write all of the stall locations (coordinates) with the corresponding pit stall #. Then you can randomly pick where you want your pole sitter to be by picking a stall location and overwrite your pit stall 0 to the new location. For example use Mesa09_night again (I'm only going to show the first 10 stalls to save space):

; regular stalls
stall_0 = 188.00 36.15 0.00
stall_1 = 171.67 36.15 0.00
stall_2 = 155.27 36.15 0.00
stall_3 = 138.74 36.15 0.00
stall_4 = 122.26 36.15 0.00
stall_5 = 105.87 36.15 0.00
stall_6 = 89.36 36.15 0.00
stall_7 = 78.03 36.15 0.00
stall_8 = 69.75 36.15 0.00
stall_9 = 61.47 36.15 0.00
stall_10 = 53.20 36.15 0.00

To make the pole sitter use the 10th stall change stall_0 location from 188.00 to 53.20. But make sure that you use the 188.00 for the 10th stall or mix and match all of them. I hope this helps or maybe somebody can explain it a little better than I can. lol

puckhogg11, Sorry I haven't gotten back here in the last couple of days. The first thing I know I need to do is make a copy of the track.ini. That way if I do mess things up it turns out to be a quick and easy fix. To be honest the first part of what you said is very confusing to me. I don't think it's the way you are explaining it. I actually think it's confusing because I have never done anything like this before. So I am not familiar with the ins and outs of this game. The second part of what you said I think it makes it a little more clear. I am going to use my own examples to see if I am understanding this. I will use the same Mesa09_night that you are and the first 10 stalls. Which actually turns out to be 11 stalls since stall 0 is included.

Here it is the way it came with the track. The pole sitter is sitting in stall 0 and 2nd place starter is sitting in stall 1. All the way to the 11th place starter who has stall 10.

; regular stalls
stall_0 = 188.00 36.15 0.00
stall_1 = 171.67 36.15 0.00
stall_2 = 155.27 36.15 0.00
stall_3 = 138.74 36.15 0.00
stall_4 = 122.26 36.15 0.00
stall_5 = 105.87 36.15 0.00
stall_6 = 89.36 36.15 0.00
stall_7 = 78.03 36.15 0.00
stall_8 = 69.75 36.15 0.00
stall_9 = 61.47 36.15 0.00
stall_10 = 53.20 36.15 0.00

Now what I want to do to make things easier is just flip everybody. So the 11th place starter would be in the first stall which is stall 0. 10th place starter gets the 2nd stall which is listed as stall 1. Now the pole sitter would be in the 11th place stall which is listed here as stall 10.

; regular stalls
stall_10 = 53.20 36.15 0.00
stall_9 = 61.47 36.15 0.00
stall_8 = 69.75 36.15 0.00
stall_7 = 78.03 36.15 0.00
stall_6 = 89.36 36.15 0.00
stall_5 = 105.87 36.15 0.00
stall_4 = 122.26 36.15 0.00
stall_3 = 138.74 36.15 0.00
stall_2 = 155.27 36.15 0.00
stall_1 = 171.67 36.15 0.00
stall_0 = 188.00 36.15 0.00

Now that I think I have the stalls where I want them as far as the coordinates go. You said the stall numbers would still have to be in order. In this case that means the order is 0 to 10. So now all I should have to do is change those numbers.

; regular stalls
stall_0 = 53.20 36.15 0.00
stall_1 = 61.47 36.15 0.00
stall_2 = 69.75 36.15 0.00
stall_3 = 78.03 36.15 0.00
stall_4 = 89.36 36.15 0.00
stall_5 = 105.87 36.15 0.00
stall_6 = 122.26 36.15 0.00
stall_7 = 138.74 36.15 0.00
stall_8 = 155.27 36.15 0.00
stall_9 = 171.67 36.15 0.00
stall_10 = 188.00 36.15 0.00

Am I doing this right? The way it is should be my final look at the track.ini. The way I have it setup when I go into the game and the race I should be seeing things this way. Whoever qualified 11th should be in the first pit stall which is listed as stall 10. Then whoever won the pole should actually be setup in the 11th pit stall which is now listed as stall 0.

Well I hope I didn't just confuse the crap out of you. I think the order is right. At least it looks right to me from the way you explained it. For some reason I think the way I am explaining is completely wrong.

Yeah that should do it for you. Have fun with it and mix it all up.

Thank you so much for all your help puckhogg11. I appreciate that. I am planning on mixing it up. I just flipped it around like that to make it easier to explain things. My first thought was to take the pit stalls locations from a real race and change it that way. Then I thought about pulling numbers out of hat. Then I found this random number generator thing on Google. So I think I'm going to use that and make it really interesting.
