This is a question to sandbox and track.ini experts. I seem to be having pit stall issues with my track build. When everyone comes in for scheduled stops i can see theyre all getting serviced but once finished they all just keep sitting in their boxes for way too long. It seems to effect the first 2-4 stalls the most but its a full pit road issue. Ive read about distance requirements for the last stall needing to be so close to pit entrance and also of first stall to pit exit distance requirements... this i have not messed with yet. My dlat i think it is is not the same for the entire pit road... thought maybe that could also play a role but i honestly dont know.

Anyways thats the issue. Thanks if you have any advice!

If you have paintstripes on the pitroad they might have the wrong surface definition. That would make them serve a penalty.
Another thing worth checking is strategy_base_pitting_cost, maybe they're waiting for that to run out (not entirely sure if that's for regular pitting or just stop and go)

the only paint stripes i have now i placed with the 'Track Surface Decal Editing' section. I placed one for the start of pit road and one for the end of the pit road. I would imagine that wouldn't have any effect on penalties entering pit road, but I learn new things about sandbox every day so I wouldn't be surprised! lol. Could that have an effect on it?

To maintain pitroad compliance, the driveable surface of the pit area must (only) be "pit road" or "pit stall" subsurface from the start to the end of pit road. However, a break in either of these 2 subsurfaces would yield a pit exit penalty.

A pit entry penalty would be triggered by incorrect [ AppRuleEnterPits ] values, possibly just reversed dlat values,
or,
the pit lp's are not laid out for the ai to follow them into the pits through the [ AppRuleEnterPits ] zone,
or,
an incorrect merge_to_pit_line_dlong value ( or combination of merge_to_pit_line_dlong and merge_to_pit_line_length values) that don't require the ai to join the pit lp's soon enough to get them through the [ AppRuleEnterPits ] zone,
or,
too fast a pitspeed before reaching the pitstall, usually not an ai problem.

The easiest thig to try is to eliminate the [ AppRuleEnterPits ] stanza, either by deleting it entirely or by placing a semi-colon before each line. If that doesn't fix it it'll require more information to figure out what's causing the penalty.

I defintely had a few things wrong that were clear from the get go. I've fixed them. None the less it's still looking like every car is getting penalized. Here's a question. Would it be OK to have the entirety of pitlane be considered 'pit stall' sections in sandbox? Or does pit road require a defined difference between pit road / pit stall areas... and then of course they both have to be without and breaks. Right now I have my entire pit road as 'pitstall' from wall to infield.

I'm really not sure what it is I'm missing, if it's not that. I hate you, pit road. lol
