It's been a while. I literally haven't opened 3ds max in MONTHS. Maybe 6 or so. I've been SO swamped with work, I've had to ditch my freelance stuff and focus on that. But now that that ball is rolling steady eddie, I've decided to try something. It's simple, but effective. Texture it up and put some cool lighting in there, and you may have a cool scene. I'll work on it over the next few days and see what I can get out of it.

Looking at this, it doesn't even seem structurally safe. Like, I look at it and kinda think that it's a bit of a flimsy building, but hey, it's a hangar or something. So it's supposed to be a bit of a crap building.

And here I thought maybe this had something to do with the Stones' 'Sympathy for the Devil'. BAH!

Oh yeah...nice open and airy building.

Hmmm... I see a couple lifts. Some setup plates. Lotsa tool boxes/benches. A hauler or two parked in there. Couple cars on setup plates... This could be THE garage scene!

You have already made the garage BAY scene... THIS would be the garage! LOL

Hauler trailer is at 13'-6" Figure at least a 15' opening to park one in.

I'll catch ya this weekend. I need to package up some stuff, but I could just send you the boxes and addins I have to include in the final package for posting.

We'll talk later.

I'll make doors for a hauler, but I'm just gonna let you do the placing.

I'm building in 2012. I guess I'll have to export the building as an OBJ.

This is really cool. You should stick some haulers, maybe a few car jacks... Pitboxes, crews, you could go the whole nine yards and it would be awesome! Like a shop render.

Yeah, it needs a true horizontal member to keep the building from shifting sideways from a wind or something. I suggest looking up on Google images roof or a-frame trusses if you're needing something to reference. Otherwise, impressive modeling!

Some roof truss examples:

Has it really gotten to this...that we're worried that a virtual building might not be structurally sound? And what's going to harm it...a virtual tornado? Maybe some blowhard?

Really? Can't it just be appreciated for what it is? Hoosier started off by saying, 'It's simple, but effective' after all. Lighten up people.

Better make sure you have properly grounded outlets no more than 4 feet apart or some code jockey will be all over you HD.

You won't believe how many times Firefox attempted to incinerate my 3D model. Good thing I modeled in a proper fire suppression system!

Looks great so far!

It'd be nice to have a good MR type scene for max 9. I guess I may have to upgrade at some point.

Here is an update. Rebuilt from the ground up. A little taller for 15' doors. Now it's braced properly. ;)

I included another image with fixes I wanna make.
