Hate to say it, but poke around the interwebs and it's been shown as a scam. From what a lot of people have written, it is in fact using voxels. Which is a lot, LOT less impressive. (All be it claiming to make them as small as atoms).
This looks almost too good to be true. Thing is that I notice a reduction in quality in favor of having more "polygons" (or atoms, as the guy puts it). I understand it's a demo, but if this is real (which I doubt), the system needs a lot of refinement.
The technology we're using, "...needs a lot of refinement." Personally; thinking it looks better, and I hope they can back their promo. I think the idea of technology that will improve visuals, while seeing less expensive cpu oriented rendering (lessening the need for expensive gpu's) is encouraging.
I don't care if they use voxels, or volkswagens, if they give me better graphics & less expensive hardware requirements.
I can remember when an expert said consumers would never require more than a gig of memory & mainstream thought the internet would only be exploited by the scientific community & geeky losers.
There's too much complex, almost abstract, technology for me to pass judgement. I'll just have to wait to see what happens.
