Always nice to get more reviews, but they didn't seem to touch on very much. I've seen screenshots of the graphics on high and I think they look good. Obviously things can be improved, but going all out on graphics only cuts down on the amount of users who are able to use the program. No point in limiting the userbase to people with 8 core CPU's and Tri-SLI video cards. There is also a vast difference between the lowest settings and the highest settings giving a good variety of performance for all types of consumers from low end machines to high end machines.

I figure weather will come, but there are multiple factors that can come in to play. As I previously said a big factor could be computer performance. People already on the edge of the spectrum performance wise could be cut off by the addition of various weather enhancements. As for racing difficulty weather is an important addition that is needed to judge a racers talents. But, how are they going to incorporate weather into the championship when races constantly go off across various series. For time trials the weather would have to be fixed anyway for the entire week, because lower temps would give faster times and some may feel cheated towards the points if someone gets lower temp conditions giving them an extra advantage. Obviously weather could add a unique obstacle towards time trials, but it would only be applicable if it stayed the same for everyone throughout the week.

As for weather in races. Most people don't like having to build setups for a single weather condition per series per week. If weather is added some may feel those with extra time are only being given an advantage by adding more variables, which can compensated for through setups. The only changes I can think of adjusting are more tape for cooler days and different tire compounds for wet on road courses. I'm sure someone with more knowledge on setups could find other adjustments. Personally, I would like to see weather, but as of now with the tracks and physics iRacing is very CPU dependent and adding in weather might not be viable for the user base. Also I don't see a reason in them spending the time to add it if they don't feel it would be done correctly. Instead they can take the time to do it at a time when they feel they will complete it correctly instead of throwing in an inaccurate substitute just to please some.

I feel the article could of touched on more than the graphics and tracks. The tracks are great, but they aren't fun to drive on if the cars don't react properly to them - which through the cars design and the FFB I feel is done quite well. Just seemed like a short review and not a very in depth review. They also didn't touch on the safety rating system, which weeds out the trouble makers and promotes safe racing.

I'm not suprised as to what they said in weather, I am not even sure they will be adding night races. I doubt most PC's would even be able to handle them with the lighting and reflections that will be required. I'm perfectly fine with only day races however.

I honestly think the iRacing graphics are perfect and could not be better. I am really suprised with how many people say the graphics are not amazing. I take it these reviewers use the lowest graphics settings with everything off... If this is the qualify of the original Xbox, I'll go buy one right now because I must have missed out on a lot.

The main thing I like about iRacing in graphics is their textures. Most sim's or games now completely over contrast the textures and in my opinion it makes them look terrible and incredibly unrealistic. iRacing has had it almost always perfect... and it really makes a huge difference for myself. On top of all of that the modeling is exact... and the lighting and reflections are pretty darn amazing.

Completely agree with your post Steve, but I just found an interesting thread on iRacing. A while back Dave Kaemmer and John Henry, as well as some other staff held an open chat with members. During the chat John Henry stated that night racing is coming. Obviously there's no time frame, but I'm sure they'll find a way to optimize the graphical hit it would cause. Can't wait to run Daytona or Bristol at night :)

Here's the quote from a transcript taken from the chat - "John Henry - night racing not this season but coming."

The season was referring to the season we are currently running, not the season that is getting ready to start.
