To be honest, I thought this year was boring. There are no real rivalries and all the drivers are so damn politically correct, it makes my want to puke. I understand they have sponsors they must answer to, but most of them act like robots out there when they get interviewed.
The racing was good (at times) but for the most part, I thought it was quite boring. I think the "cookie cutter" tracks are to blame for the racing. Put these guys in the Busch cars and I think we will see some better racing and more rivalries. I really do think that would bring the competition closer together and make for some more rivalries.
Overall, the season had it's high points but in general not as exciting as past seasons. I'm a Mark Martin fan so now that the Red Sox and Roush could be cohorts together I won't have to route for them anymore. So does that mean the Yankees and Hendrick should co-op? Hmmm, I'd have to become a Hendrick fan then, maybe I'll go with Mears I think we'll see more excitement in the coming years with these elite drivers from other organizations coming over to Nascar (Montoya, Ahlmendinger, Hornish and Villeneuve to mention a few) Pretty soon Nextel/Sprint will be it's own IROC. The series could definately benefit with some new talent so there isn't an overwhelming majority of Junior fans. Not that it's a bad thing but some variety would be nice. But to sum this season up in a word - Average.
