Let's say I have come to terms with the monetary side.lol

I of course am a NSCS/NNWS/NCWTS fan.Spending as much time with NR2003 as I have,I would love some help deciding if the time involved getting thru to the series I really want to race is worth it.

Pretty sure I won't be satisfied with Legends and Solstice.

Most of my race time is after the family is asleep,so 11pm to 2-3am is when I spend the most time with it.

Any practical experience and order of things to do would be great to hear.I see a couple of you have the COT cars.If you wouldn't mind sharing your progression time to get those,I think that would be what I need to decide.

I have a lot of fun with NR2003 in the time I have, but would like to try IRacing too if it seems possible.

Thanks for any info you can give.

Haven't gotten there yet, but I'd expect the truck series to be a lower rank...but don't quote me lol.

You will have a Rookie license for 1 month then you'll be promoted to the next license level. If every other license but Rookie you will have it for 3 months before being promoted.

Every car is limited to a certain license level. I'll just list them all.
Legends - Rookie, Late Model - Class D, SK Modified - Class D, Trucks - Class C, Nationwide - Class B, COT - Class A.
In every series you may "race up" which means if you are a rookie driver you may drive any class D cars if you have a 4.00 Saftey rating. Only a 3.00 SR is required to be promoted however... and you begin with a 2.5 SR. Keeping a good SR is not very hard, as long as you race clean you will be fine.

I am currently a 4.68 SR Class D driver and am doing some racing in the truck series by "racing up".

There are races every two hours in the lower license levels and always constant practice sessions, you won't find it hard to race.

Thanks Steve.

Another question I have is:How do the fps compare to NR2003.
I have only 2.2GHz and a 9600GT at 1680x1050 on my internet computer.Can run
NR2003 ok with some things turned down. But don't know if options for quality
are the same with iRacing.

If I like it well enough,I guess I will consider moving it to my better computer.

Thanks

I can run NR2003 maxed out and still get a constant 50-70 FPS and never go below 30.

Here is my system, I can run iRacing with the main car shadows off and AA off and get a constant 55 FPS. If I max out iRacing however I drop down to 13 FPS.
Dell Studio Desktop 540
Windows Vistom Home Premium 64-bit
Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz 2.40 GHz
6.00 GB of RAM
ATI Radeon HD 3650 256MB
720GB Hard Drive

I didn't have a very large difference between the two.

iRacing is fairly good with FPS. I think it's almost the reverse order....iRacing better, NR2003 slower.

Crazy.

As long as you're not OC'ing your card or chip...you should be fine. Most computers get hot under stress...lots of people end up buying a new or adding fans..

So you're saying it would take approximately 13 months to be eligible for the COT cars? When you move up in class, say up to C class, do you then have to purchase the trucks or are they included in your subscription? I can't fathom having to pay for vehicles that I will never use again after I finally work my way up to the trucks and Nationwide and COT's.

In order to run anything outside of Legends (as far as Ovals go) you'll have to pay for the cars. Don't say you'll never run them again as it seems most people end up racing mostly Late Models and Trucks. Nationwide is a mixed bag, but lots of people claim that the COT races are too long (and they are actually being shortened by 10% next season).
