Quicken Loans 400 Weekend Discussion

Race #15 is this weekend at the Michigan International Speedway, the Quicken Loans 400. Xfinity runs on Saturday with the Great Clips 250 Benefiting Paralyzed Veterans of America. Trucks are running Saturday night in Madison Illinois at Gateway Motorsports Park the Drivin' for Linemen 200.

I remember being so excited to hear a NASCAR race a Gateway last year that I actually watched an entire practice session which is something that I don't regularly do in any series that isn't the Sprint Cup. I'm looking forward to Gateway more than Michigan just because I remember last year's event being the best (In my opinion) of the weekend.

MWR has swapped Ragan's and Bowyer's crew chiefs. Pattie is now with Ragan, Scott is now with Bowyer. The #15 and #55 engineers have also been switched.

I discovered that too a couple hours after last Sunday and with how great Martin Truex Jr has been running I think Jamie's the new underdog.

McMurray's been pretty solid the last couple of years with Larson as his teammate. This year he has avoided the bad finishes outside of Atlanta as he would usually get some sort of bad luck but just 1 bad race this year.

I think this new rules package really allows guys that are good in the lower series to adapt to Cup easily.

Ryan Blaney has shown a lot of speed this season in his few starts but I think there have been at least three races where he was running good and then the engine expires: Daytona, Texas, and Charlotte. If that can stop then I think he would get good finishes more often.

I also do congratulate Ross Kenseth on his win and my favorite thing about watching that Arca race was when Ray was quoting Matt and he said something like, "You're going to have to work your way up" saying that he's not going to get to the big series just because of things like money. That appears to be what Ross has been doing. I can't wait to see how he does in the Xfinity Series at Chicagoland.
