We've reached the halfway mark of another SRD National Series season, which means it's time to go mud slinging again! The SRD National Series returns to the Eldora Speedway for the third running of the mid-season race on dirt.

This is the most unique race weekend of the season. Outside of it being on dirt, only 29 cars are allowed on the track at one time. With 39 entries, we'll have to use Heat Races to trim the full field down to the 29 cars that will compete in the 150-lap main event.

Drivers will be placed in their Heats based on driver standing positions after the race at Coca-Cola. Odd-numbered positions will compete in Heat 1, even-numbered positions will compete in Heat 2.

    WEEKEND SCHEDULE
    • Thursday, August 23rd
      • Heat Race Practice
        • One 30 minute practice session for each Heat to give drivers a chance to get used to the track.
      • Heat Race Qualifying (2 sessions)
        • Two qualifying sessions, one for each Heat.
        • Polesitters from both Heats will be locked into the Main, but they do not have a particular starting position in the Main locked.
    • Friday, August 24th
      • Heat Races (2 races)
        • 50 laps
        • NO Green-White-Checkered procedure.
        • If the polesitter finishes in the top 15 in Heat 1 and top 14 in Heat 2...
          • The top 15 from Heat 1 and top 14 from Heat 2 will transfer to the Main.
        • If the polesitter does not finish in the top 15 in Heat 1 and top 14 in Heat 2...
          • The top 14 from Heat 1 and the polesitter from Heat 1, as well as the top 13 from Heat 2 and the polesitter from Heat 2 will transfer to the Main.
        • Drivers finishing outside the required finishing position to advance to the Main will be eliminated and scored points based on where they would have finished in a full-field on a normal race weekend.
          • The lowest five finishing drivers in Heat 1 that is not the polesitter will be scored points for finishing 31st, 33rd, 35th, 37th, and 39th in a normal race weekend.
          • The lowest five finishing drivers in Heat 2 that is not the polesitter will be scored points for finishing 30th, 32nd, 34th, 36th, and 38th in a normal race weekend.
        • No bonus points will be awarded for laps led.
        • No stage points or playoff points will be awarded.
    • Saturday, August 25th
      • Aspen Dental 150 Qualifying
        • The 29 cars that transferred into the Main will compete in a normal qualifying session to set the starting lineup for the Main.
      • Aspen Dental 150
        • 29 cars
        • 150 laps split into 3 50-lap segments.
        • Stage points and Playoff points will be awarded as normal at the 1/3 mark of the race, which is also the end of Segment 1.
        • Additional stage points will be awarded to the top 5 series regulars at the end of Segment 2 (5 points for 1st, 4 points for 2nd, etc...)
        • Drivers will earn points as usual for positions 1st - 29th as well as bonus points for leading a lap and leading the most laps.
        • If a series regular wins the event, they will earn 5 playoff points and a spot in the Chase (given they aren't already locked into the Chase) as normal.

"Can't wait for my first ever dirt track race. There is no such thing in Europe." Said Hustin Jawkins, driver of the #86 KM Racing Snickers Ford, ahead of the upcoming Eldora-race.

"Kyle, Mike & I will be at the teams ranch on Monday and Tuesday. Folks will help me getting prepared riding some dirt karts there. This will be fun."

Gonna have to hold off on this another week. Had a really busy first week back down in Mobile, and I wasn't able to get anything set up for this.

I'll try to get Heat practice and qualifying up tonight, and run the Heat races tomorrow night. Main event will likely have to be held off until Sunday at least.

I'm still pretty busy with school things.
