Robby Gordon holding press conference Friday: From a media advisory: "SPEED and running on high Octane are nothing new for Robby Gordon - that's what Robby Gordon Motorsports is built around. But on Thursday, October 28, 2010, Gordon was caught driving an illegal NASCAR race car at a high rate of SPEED [see an image at Planet Robby] on Highway 77 in Huntersville, NC that slowed down portions of the interstate due to the scene. Gordon was questioned before being released by local authorities. He will be on hand at Talladega Superspeedway and available to answer any questions regarding this event and how it could affect the future of Robby Gordon Motorsports.(RGM), sounds like something relating to a TV show on SPEED next season.(10-28-2010)

For viewers of Speedfactory.tv it seems like good news that the SPEED channel has picked up the show. No word on if they are going to show it this season or not till next season, hopefully they finish out this season & do it over the off-season as well as we all know between NASCAR, Baja, Dakar, TORC & the Monster truck that RGM doesn't have an offseason.

I just hope that the show doesn't lose it's low-budget documentary style though.

Testing something out for his Phoenix car? That's what people on PlanetRobby.com said.

was this like a promo stunt or is this for real for real? b/c there's other cars on that highway and he just randomly does donuts with no traffic coming. :skeptical:

The wheel looks like MWR's wheels (shiny chrome). Why does it have a wing?

Did y'all not read the article thing and my few sentences below it?

It was a planned "gorilla marketing" stunt for that Speedfactory show. Remember they stopped making new ones, and when asked about it Rowdy (the guy that made 'em) said they are working on a TV deal....

Then this comes out with the word SPEED stylized like the TV channel. It's real easy to put two and two together. Speedfactory was picked up by the SPEED channel and this is part of some viral/gorilla marketing campaign.

The COT is a street legal one, all the Toyota teams have them (sure some of the other teams do as well, but it just seems like EVERY Toyota team has one).

The COT is not street legal. Just to be clear. I would guess the engine is way to powerful for streets, it would need mirrors, working headlights, brake lights, and turn signals, pass emissions and of course have license tags.

There is no "This engine is to big so we're not gonna let you register it" law.
Emissions is easy to pass. there are actually lots of NASCAR engines that are converted for street use.
It does have headlights
It does have tailights
Turn signals not sure of, but they also may not be required in state where it's registered (NC I'm guessing)
It has a rear license plate mount (it appears the plate was removed for this promo shoot though)
Not sure if you need wing mirrors, I've seen a lot of street legal cars without them. A lot of older imports/compacts only have driver side one... NASCAR "Blocking Mirror" would work for that.

Here is the Monster Energy version of the car.

UPDATE: Robby Gordon has created an energy drink company that he hopes will generate enough revenue to sponsor his Robby Gordon Motorsports race team. Gordon unveiled plans for the company, Speed Energy, Friday at Talladega Superspeedway. Gordon wouldn't commit to running all the Sprint Cup races next year but said he personally will run the first five as well as the "fun" events in big markets. Gordon, whose team is 34th in the owner standings, said he plans to run in the Indianapolis 500 as well as off-road events such as the Dakar Rally. He hopes the energy drink helps generate more sponsorship money for his race team. The energy drink's name goes along with Gordon's website, Speedfactory.tv, that shows video clips of his race team's preparation for events. He said distribution of the drink should begin soon. The drink currently is being bottled in the Charlotte area. Longtime Gordon attorney Steven Nichols will be an owner of the drink company along with Gordon, who has represented Red Bull and Monster energy drinks in the past.(Scene Daily)(10-29-2010)
