Just noticed that as of the 25th they are shutdown and may not be returning. This is a big loss for the sim racing community.

Revamped reloaded was down for awhile and it was up in the air if they will survive. AKM is the oly one doing any updates. Anyone have anymore info?

Don't know but it really sucks, because as far as my view is concerned, in my eyes, Safer Barrier Project was the best place to download updated tracks. I hope they keep their downloads page up <_<

I don't want to start a war but... what are AKM tracks except rip-offs from both SBP or Revamped tracks? I think it's part of the reason why SBP is now closed... It also means there won't be able to make "updates" if the main source for ripping tracks is gone... :mask:

Alex, I hear what you are saying and agree, but that is not the reason it shutdown. James76 posted a mipdate at nnc and jrock had a fit (see comments at nnc). Seems to me that this happened before when he was part of racetrack central (not sure if this was the sites actual name). he floated around diffrent sites with his work untill the SBP site was started.
It seems like there is a ego problem here. I really hope they cool down and mend there issues.

Thanks Jecski,

I've seen the "war" on NNracing and I agree with you - I just think AKM was maybe an aggravating factor. Anyway, this is a real loss for the game...

From the last last thing I read at speedway.net it looks like J rock is cooling down and reavulating closing the site. Some of the older sim guys that have been around for along time had some good posts that may have helped him.

I'm glad I downloaded the Bristol and Datona 2007 BR tracks. Both are great and they fixed the drawing issues that revamped and thier tracks had at Datona. Don't really like the BR three wide all the time, but it's liveable. The revamped datonas race better.

To take care of the AKM deal, one of the guys on the crew at Revamped did graphical updates to the tracks to make 2008 graphics. It's a combination of SBP, Revamped, and some independent track makers' original works, with graphics updates.

It really is sad that it came down to this. It seems like the NASCAR sim community is dying off, with the exception of a few sites. At least Revamped is almost back on its feet, and SBP hasn't permanently been shut down.

I wish the best comes out of this situation. Daytona 2008 BR was one of the most intense plate tracks I've ever driven.

Also, thanks to all of ya'll on here for continuing to support the sim community.

Two things strike me as very sad about the mipdate (mipgate?) snafu:

1. We've all lost. The mipdate is for a track no longer available, and SBP has ceased producing the updates needed to keep NR2003 mostly up to date. While I'm sure in the long run, someone else will take up the banner of updating tracks, a complete loss of SBP is a big loss for everyone involved in the NR2003 online/offline racing community.

2. They chose to air their dirty laundry in public. Did we really need to read all those gory details? That was poor professionalism and judgement on BOTH sides to first air it out, and then perpetuate it out there for everyone to see like that. Those two could have had it out with each other privately, but instead they did it out in public for everyone to read and know about. Alex finally had to lock down the comments to stop it. Consequently, those two have both lost a lot of respect that they wouldn't have if one or both sides chose to handle the situation in a more appropriate manner.

Hopefully the NNRacing comments will be the first and last time the public will see a shameful event like that. I hope everyone takes note on what went wrong here and learns an important lesson for the future.

Wow I wish I had dollar for every time someone used the word "rip-off" when describing AKM's tracks. I then actually could consider track editing as a profession. LOL

TO set the record straight, what I do for editing had nothing to do with the issues between those to guys. You can say I ripp-off Revamps tracks too, but how does one rip one's own work off from themselves???? I WAS part of the RR crew, that bristol, that indy, and many others I was one of the men with the virtual wrench in making those. I don't do Graphic editing that well, but I do Physics very well. I have since"retired" from track editing, I only do it for the site I race at, but they are up for public downloading. I do try to give the best of credit to those original builders.

And I not attacking you, I just find funny when I read posts that are similar this one. It's a different walk, when you wear the shoes of an editor/track maker. Anyways my soapbox is getting wobbly, I'll ease off of it now.

P.S. Hands-down to those guys, thay have a lot more time for the work they do, than I get nowadays.:notworthy:
