Shane Lennox carries the momentum from the win at Richmond to pole in the first race of the playoffs at Watkins Glen, edging out last year's pole sitter Darren Ingram.

"We feel really good about our car here this weekend. It sucks missing out on the pole by that much, but we feel good about our long run speed. Hopefully we can get this Camaro to Victory Lane, we've been as fast as anyone this year, just haven't gotten the job done."

"Not where we wanted to start in our #42 Konica Minolta Chevy Camaro, but Watkins Glen has never been a fast track for us, so let's just cut our losses this race."

Lap 1: Lennox with the jump on the start leads into turn 1. Bleskachek able to get inside of Ingram to take 2nd under braking and now has a run on corner exit and pulls alongside Lennox for the lead as they race up the hill to the bus stop. Lennox out of the groove as they race up the hill and Blanford now has a look to his inside for 2nd into the bus stop. Lennox backs out of it and gives the 22 the 2nd spot as the field shuffles through. Ingram side by side with Peters through turn 5 for 4th. Ingram a bad opening lap as he gives up that spot and is now under fire into turn 6 from Missimer. Move the 68 by as well. Ingram from 2nd to 6th on the start and is under pressure from Woodard as they come to the line to complete the opening lap. 60, 22, 18, 00, 68 the top 5 after 1 lap.

Lap 4: Most of the field has gotten single file now with the top 15 cars unchanged since the opening lap. Lennox in 3rd another bad run up the hill through the esses and Peters makes his move to the inside for the bus stop. Lennox doesn't back out and they race side by side out of the bus stop and into turn 5. Still side by side now through 6 and into 7. Peters finally able to clear the 18 as they come to the line to take over 3rd.

Lap 5: Missimer trying to follow his teammate through into 4th as he dives to the inside of the 18 into turn 1. Lennox out wide over the curbs and onto the run off area will give up that position. Our front row starters not off to a great start having slipped back to 5th and 6th now just 5 laps in. Checking in on the playoff drivers that started further back. Curtain is in 18th, Kunkel 21st, Anderson 22nd, Craigo 28th, Mallon 29th, Harris 31st, Hooper 35th, and Isaacs running dead last in 37th.

Lap 6: Mike Peters has a hot rod in the early stages of this one. After clearing Lennox the 00 has run down Blanford for 2nd and now makes the move to the inside into turn 6. They race side by side into turn 7 and Peters able to sweep around the outside and take over the runner up spot as they come to the line to complete lap 6. Bleskachek still out in front.

Lap 11: It took a few laps but Peters has finally caught up to the rear bumper of the 60. Bleskachek starting to lose the handle slightly and he gets a poor run up the hill and here comes Peters with a run to the inside as they brake for the bus stop. Peters will take over the top spot. At the same time behind them Missimer makes the same move on Blanford for 3rd. The 2 KM cars very strong in the early stages of this one.

Lap 13: Peters pulling away out front as the field has really spread out now. Pit stops starting to begin as Bleskachek dives in from 2nd and Lennox the first playoff driver in gives up the 5th position. Everyone else stays on track.

Lap 14: Pit road very busy now as almost everyone else comes in. Peters, Missimer, Woodard, Coleman, Busch, Slates, and Isaacs the only drivers to wait another lap.

Lap 15: The last 7 drivers come in this time around to make their stops. Bleskachek the first driver on track and has a sizeable advantage over the next driver which is now Lennox who has jumped ahead of Blanford by pitting 1 lap sooner. Ingram just behind the 22.

Lap 16: Bleskachek cycles out in front of Peters by 2.6 seconds. Missimer comes out in the 3rd but Lennox is all over his rear bumper for that position. Blanfrod, Ingram, Woodard, Merzlak, Farrell, Smetana the rest of the top 10. The other playoff drivers cycle out like this:

    Nixon 11th
    Mallon 16th
    Kunkel 18th
    Curtain 19th
    Anderson 22nd
    Isaacs 26th
    Craigo 27th
    Hooper, Sr. 34th
    Harris 37th

Lap 19: Closing in on halfway and the end of the stage. Nixon able to make his way into 10th getting around the 5 of Smetana. That puts 7 playoff drivers in the top 10. Bleskachek still in command by 1.5 seconds. Missimer has distanced himself from 4th place running Lennox.

Lap 23: Final lap of the stage and Peters has closed right up to the rear bumper of Bleskachek. 1 playoff point on the line for the 00. Peters unable to make a move as they work up the hill through turns 2 and 3. Bleskachek able to get through the bus stop and turn 5 well enough to prevent a dive into turn 6. Peters takes a look into turn 7 but it's not quite enough and Bleskachek will come across the line as the stage winner. Peters a close 2nd with Missimer a distant 3rd. Billy Nixon able to make a move on Farrell to take 9th before they cross the line. 1 extra point for the 79 team.

    Top 10 at stage end:
    Bleskachek
    Peters
    Missimer
    Lennox

    Blanford
    Ingram
    Woodard
    Merzlak
    Nixon

    Farrell

Issues on the 00 as we were coming to the green! Smoke pouring out from behind the car and it appears that Peters has had an engine failure. The restart will be delayed 1 more lap to check for oil from that car. That'll be a big blow to that team as they will finish dead last in this one. Luckily they were able to make it to the end of the stage and get 9 points for finishing 2nd.

The track is clear and we are ready to get back underway at Watkins Glen. Bleskachek leads the field off turn 7 and to the line. The green flag is out and we are racing once again.
