I know we just finished season 8 but since we were so far behind we need to get the ball rolling on season 9. This thread is for discussion on updates to the series only, silly season posts should remain in the silly season thread.

I've got a few early ideas that I'll list below as likely changes to the series for the upcoming season unless you guys feel otherwise. Any objections to what I have below, feel free to express your opinion and reasoning. Also if you have any suggestions on possible improvements for the series please leave them in this thread as well.

-The 20 race schedule will be cut down to 15 races (to help reduce # of open weekends needed)
-10 races in the regular season with 5 in the playoffs
-Race distances to be increased to 75% of real life counterparts
-Races will have 2 stages each
    -Preliminary schedule posted below
-12 drivers will be accepted into the playoff format after 10 races
-Each driver receives bonus points for stage wins and race wins
-Points leader after 10 races also receives bonus points for being regular season champion
-Only 1 round of elimination will be held, having 4 races
-7 drivers will be eliminated after race 14, leaving 5 remaining to battle in Homestead
-Series will move to MENC19 mod
-SRD logo remains mandatory on windshield and contingency panel
-ROTY drivers are required to have yellow stripes on rear bumper
-Points system will change to the current run in the MENCS (40,35,34,33,etc)
-Stage points to remain the same (10 for 1st, 9 for 2nd, etc) with 1 playoff point for winner
-5 playoff points to race winner
-Regular season champion receives an additional 5 playoff points
-ROTY, Team, and Manufacturer points systems will be reworked
-Ratings system will be overhauled to provide bigger spread between track specializations
-Superspeedway no longer accepted as a ratings bias
-The 5 championship drivers in Homestead will have ratings moved to Speedway
-Possibility of participation based ratings increases to vehicle performance
-Same as previous years, one full season in lower series and/or 500 posts
    -40 car max starting field
-4 car teams are allowed, but no more than 5 total teams can run 4 cars
    -Shared rides still allowed
-Sponsors not exclusive to a particular team/driver

    Preliminary Schedule
    1. Daytona - 150 laps (Stage 1 Lap 45/Stage 2 Lap 90) *Duels are 45 laps
    2. Auto Club - 150 laps (Stage 1 Lap 45/Stage 2 Lap 90)

Everything sounds good to me, with the exception of one thing... While I don't plan on running Dodges (unless I can convince DJ to switch lol), I think they should stick around. I think @jacobc62 would agree as well.

Kill off Dodge? After it was already announced that the amount of Dodges in the field were going to at least double?

I mean, I know I would basically be Team Penske ala 2012, but still....

I like the sound of what you’ve got planned, especially the addition of ratings boosts based on participation. I think that could really make things more engaging.

I think this all sounds really good especially the ratings things. I have always kind of thought there should be a ratings boost for people who participate more often.

What about to go along with the track specializations a team owner can select an ratings boost for the team before the season starts?

Like say I want to boost the engines for my team but someone else wants to boost the reliability or the chassis. I don't think it needs to be a big boost to give a team an advantage but enough to add some more variety to how teams and drivers perform at certain tracks. It would be like to old days when teams had more horsepower, while other teams focused on fuel mileage, and someone else focused on the chassis to drive better, etc.

Also what about a past champions boost??

Just kidding!! Thought I would try now that there are two champions at Xtreme Motorsports!

Definitely in favor of something like this, my qualifying has been awful regardless of whose running the series. I'd love to be able to have the ability to boost an area like that because it really hindered my team last year.

How about a ratings boost for our home track, if it appears on the schedule?

Lots of good ideas in this thread. Kudos to the group for keeping this going!

I'd also float the idea of having options for part-time drivers if there are issues filling the field. Who knows - maybe John and I come out of retirement for a race or two ;)

Maybe have a couple races where there are over capacity events? That way one-off drivers can be run or part timers can try to get in.

Any rules against a 4th one-off sponsor for the Throwback race? Asking because I have a specific plan in place for the Throwback event, but I'm having trouble finding one of my pre-existing sponsors fitting what I am planning.
