Whenever I drive on certain tracks, one of which is Martinsville, some of the exterior track-side objects such as the grandstands will turn completely black. What is causing this?
If it's my martinsville, then your pc probably can't handle the dynamic lighting, not every pc can, it's not even supposed to be on trackside objects, but does look nice when it does work. Only sugestion is to switch to some trackside objects in the options menu, and that switches the exterior models to traditional ambient lighting, not so nice looking, but should work fine.
iirc, on MV, you'll loose the 3d crowd doing this though.
computer specification is immaterial, my 14 year old laptop can "handle" dynamic lighting too, just not very well in certain circumstances.
Similarly you could have a nuclear powered pc, but if for some reason there is a conflict between the graphics driver and rendering engine of the game, things will go south fast.
Enable_Shadowvolumes set to zero cleared this type of problem for me, I still have Enable carmegashadow set to 1. Note I also don't use reflection on structures. Each system needs its own tweaks, my friend and I have identical Mx11 r2 laptops and tweak them slightly different certain times to get similar results. so tweak until your eye is happy.
