I think that its past time for Auto Club Speedway to go back to one race a year. I mean those seats were so empty and usually that race is a real sleeper but the past two races have been pretty good especially in the NationWide series. But Im just starting to think that Iowa should start expanding the seating capacity or give race to Kentucky but right now I would love to see NASCAR Sprint Cup at Iowa no really a fan of the 1 1/2 mile low banked tracks.

We need more short tracks :(
Track I think need the date:
1.) Iowa
2.) Kentucky
3.) Darlington
4.) Las Vegas
5.) Montreal

Tracks that DON'T need another date:
1.) Kansas
2.) Chicagoland
3.) Indy (just because its now special going once a year.)
4.) Pocono (should loose one too)

Yes...but even 1 date is a stretch.

They wont take away a date from ACS until either A: the track folds or B: there is another track in that market.

It sucks, but...

I'd say sure for Vegas or Iowa. Leaning more for Iowa on this one. But NOT Darlington. I love the track, don't get me wrong, but they sell out with their one date each year. They couldn't sell out with 2 dates in the years before they lost one. Same thing can happen with ACS. Can't sell out 2 races, but they probably could sell out 1 if they were trimmed down.

Give it to Iowa or Vegas. I wouldn't mind Montreal either, but I can't see NASCAR adding a 3rd roadie to the Cup series anytime soon. (wishes come true though)

I think ACS should go to one race....if anyone thinks 72,000 attended the NSCS race this weekend....well...they should work for ACS.

I wouldn't do Montreal...even with some good NNS dates under their belt....I'm not convinced it would be a good venue for Cup, especially with F1 coming back to MTL.

I would never see Pocono losing a date...the family that runs Pocono does a great job, and would right flip out if a date was gone. And factor in that in the PA/OH/MD area, that is the race, heck some come from Ontario to see the races there, rather than go to Watkins Glen.

Your first three on the list are great choices. I think tho it will come down to what region (west, midwest, southeast, midatlantic, northeast, great lakes) needs another date, and a track that can handle it, which brings me to Iowa or Las Vegas.

But I'd love to see Rockingham get a race again :notworthy:

Take the 2nd race from California, and give it back to Rockingham. Just a little work and it would be up to Nascar's standards.

Just don't give it to another 1.5 mile cookie cutter track.

Should have kept Ontario motor speedway instead. They still could rebuild it in the place of Fontana ;)

1) Cali has one date
2) Pocano has one date
3) New Hampshire has one date

1) Fix Rockingham up and give it a date
2) Give Kansas another date
3) Give Vegas a second date

If ACS goes to 1 Cup date, without any other major racing series coming in to replace the 2nd date, the track closes due to "unforeseen circumstances."

Remember the people who run ACS are complete morons.

Pocono to one date...never happen. Joe and Rose Mattitoli are very very very entrenched in NASCAR, that's why they got the NCWTS date this year.

New Hampshire...not a good bet because it's one of the places where the K&N Series drivers can get experience on a Cup track (Dover being the other on the East side). Plus regionally, NHMS serves the New England area, and you lose that date...then you are stuck in that region with one Cup race at NHMS and one at WGI. Also there is still strong attendance at NHMS.

I don't see Rockingham getting a date (altho I wish it would) because it is in a saturated market as is...and that NASCAR has stated all along they want to get away from the "Ole Boy" image (read southeastern).

As much as I'd like Kansas (originally from there), I don't see it only because right now it's not economically as attractive...now if they put the casino in...that's a different story.

I'd bet (pardon the pun) on Vegas..due to it being in the Southwest...draws well in it's one event.

The other one I'd see is Iowa...good facility..has shown it can handle IRL, NCWTS, NNS, NKNPS...almost anything thrown at it...and in the midpoint between Joilet and K.C.

I think Matt may also have hit on something....The players at ACS may get mad and take away their toys if they don't get their way....it's the mindset.
