    Thanks, Bud!
My honest question is - are the colors too bright and saturated? A lot of times I paint stuff on my laptop and then when I look at these preview images on my phone I'm like "whoa, that's more vibrant than expected!"

Maybe it was because most of the pictures where taken under the lights at a night race - but the Coke C2 "red" they used as the main color for most of these schemes seems a little dull and muted on the real cars.

IMO they are perfect. Part of the problem is in real life when they hit the track under the lights it is still very dark even with the lights, but in daylight they are a lot more vibrant and bright colors. The game can't really replicate the darkness and shadows and spotlight effect so the cars look brighter than IRL.

I appreciate it - I only wish I had better (more) images of some of the cars on track that night to work from. As I've lamented in a few other places - the diecast models for these must have been made off of design sketches. The real paint schemes are so far removed from them in some places it's funny. And even at the track - the cars that ran at practice and qualifying differ from the actual raced schemes in number and tape color is some cases. (Like Stewart's car which had all white numbers in practice and qualifying and the bright orange ones during the race.)

I know it doesn't mean much to most - but it annoys me that I can only get these cars like 80% race accurate, lmao

I'm STILL not sure if the door numbers on Harvick's #29 during the race were black or white!

I get it, I started off doing 1989 cars that hadn't been made yet, then realized the majority of 1989 cars that were made were very inaccurate (probably due to lack of references), so I got into this funk of trying to make every 1989 car.

Ooof, yeah I can imagine that was a bear of a project. That's the main reason I'm limiting myself to *2* schemes from each car number for the 1997 set so I don't go absolutely insane, lol.

Renders from Garrett are in! Going to go easy on these and not bombard you all, lol. Still working on trying to gather reference material for the fire suits and helmets but they will be completed before posting.

*as a side note I chose to go with the 2003 Taurus game model rather than the 2004 for aesthetic reasons. The 2004 model has that super low-swept speedway nose and that didn't really match visually with the aero package that ran in this particular race.

SPECIAL SPECIAL THANKS to a user on Reddit who was able to point me at a particular time stamp during the race coverage video which confirmed the door number color for Harvick's car. And it was in fact - *drum roll* - neither of the colors I thought it would be! His door numbers ended up being the same color as his roof number during the race.

Excellent work Slip, I really enjoy following your thread. Love that you go for the older schemes from the 90's to early 2000's.

As for a comment you made earlier, I think the colors look great. I get the same issue you have when I design. On the computer it looks great, colors and textures and then I see it on my phone and it's way darker than I thought. I think it has something to do with Mac vs Windows but I could just be assuming.

Keep up the great work man.
