I figured since we have threads here for NFL, NHL, MLB, and NCAAF, we could have one for Soccer. I'm not sure how many others are big soccer fans, but I'm a huge Real Madrid fan.

Let's talk about soccer, national leagues, world cup and euro qualifications, friendly matches etc...

Sounders and Tottenham Hotspur fan here (although I don't watch EPL much).

Would be nice if BeIn Sports shows a La Liga game that isn't an FC Barcelona match.

Here in Brazil the season model is similar to the MLS, begins in the first quarter (in January, with the state championships) and ends in December (with the end of the National Championship and the Intercontinental Cup).

This last weekend was pretty definitive for Brazilian football. He was known champion of the third division (Macaé), one of promoted to the first division (Vasco, one of the 10 most popular teams in the country), two demoted to the second division (Botafogo and Criciúma) and the national champion, Cruzeiro.

Even with that ridiculous game that was in the World Cup (Germany 7-1), which showed the world the lie that is the "country of football" and slapped the poor soccer in the face of our leaders, I do not cheer too to follow European leagues. In a matter of foreign tournaments, I prefer much the national teams championships like the World Cup and the European Championship.

Here in Brazil I support Portuguesa de Desportos and have sympathy for the team of my city, Barra Mansa.

Today is the Superclasico River Plate-Boca Juniors for the Copa Sudamericana (South American Cup). The winner will face Atletico Nacional of Colombia in the final.
