update sound drivers.
or just copy and replace your current sound settings in your core.ini that sould fix it.
Code:
[Sound]
allow_buffer_recreation=1 ; re-create sound buffers to improve quality
convert_3d_stereo=1 ; convert stereo to mono for positional sounds in 3d mode
enable_3d_interpolation=0 ; enable volume interpolation for 3d sound
force_default_buffer_size=0 ; Set forced buffer size in 1/36 second units. Define a value of 3 or larger
force_min_readahead=0.000000 ; Set forced read ahead, expressed in 1/36 second ticks.
interpolationValue=0

I had that problem with XP; i did some research and found that it could be hardware problems. However the problem disappeared when i updated to Windows 7 (i'll understand if that wasn't helpfull at all).
You can also try messing with hardware acceleration and see if it changes anything.

Its prob you have a sound card but have on board sound in yoru Bios set t oon. You'll need to disable that. What sound card do you have if any and whats your operating system?

I say this because I had the same problem everybody said change this change that with nothing working and so I just went out and bought a sound card for 30 bucks, disabled the on-board sound and it worked.

Of course! Why would someone want to change a onboard sound card by another onboard sound card? If that's the case, get a new motherboard!:twitcy:
He probably needs an off-board card.

most laptops have built in soundcards and graphic cards, the only way to change them is to get a whole new motherboard/laptop.......

Most chipsets nowadays can deliver you video, sound and network, but that doesn't mean you have to use them. If the need for a better performance arise, you have plenty of options.

Nope.
Actually i'll just go ahead and say that, even if you buy a sound card, the problem might continue. We don't know if it's related to hardware or software. Maybe a newer version of DirectX is the solution, but since you're stuck with XP, you're pretty much screwed.
