Only problem is that I see honestly less racing period on a rebranded channel. If they have a channel now that they can get more exposure to baseball, NCAA Football, NCAA Basketball, and stuff like that, then racing is gonna take a backseat.

On the plus side...I hope to God this means the end of Barrett-Jackson on TV. I'm sorry, but devoting 10 hours a day for a week and a half for an auction is stupid as hell.

ESPN shows the Russo & Steele auto auctions too. XD

Matter of fact the R&S Scottsdale Auction runs head to head with the BJ Scottsdale Auction, the only difference is ESPN has more then 1 channel so it gets hidden over on ESPNClassic.

And FuelTV is on less basic cable packages then NBCSports Net.

Which begs the question do we really need a 500th Sports channel?

NBCSN has crappy ratings (even for it's lackluster Carriage), the ratings on the ESPN family of networks has been slowly declining over the past handful of years, and sports ratings in general (non Playoff games) on a National whole are down in TV Viewership over the past few years too (which you would think with attendance being down the ratings would go up but that's not the case).

If this rebranding happens, I'm gonna be pretty pissed if we get less televised racing on the channel although I wouldn't be sad to see some of the non-racing related programs leave.

If they replace things like Barrett-Jackson with baseball, I'm ok with that. But, they should keep some of the more important things like practice, qualifing, and everything for the trucks.

If we get a new Speed channel can it actually be dedicated to racing and not those stupid "reality shows"?
Especially Barret Jackson auctions, nobody wants to see that. I've always hated Barret Jackson auctions.

What will happen is SPEED (Fox Sports One) will become their main sports channel. Racing will be limited to the essentials i.e. races. All of the "Nascar Now" and alike shows will get canned.

In reality, there will either be a channel that takes over SPEED which will be only on "premium" packages or there won't be a channel at all. Say good bye to the qualifying coverage, Nascar Now, and all of those programs.

So long, SPEEDvision.

This is exactly what I'm afraid of. We're going to get screwed out of the race shows and weekend coverage. Just another opportunity for even more saturation of baseball/football/basketball coverage. I guess if theres a bright side to things, at least ESPN didnt buy it. Though it'll probably be similar anyways.

I happen to like Barrett-Jackson coverage, though 10 hours is a little much. Some may find it hard to believe, but theres a lot of people that watch it. It has caught on and become a big hit for SPEED.

As for the "reality" shows, it is what it is. Any channel you watch is going to have them. As ridiculous as they can be, theres still plenty of people that get sucked in and watch them (not sure why). So they arent going anywhere no matter who owns the channel, or what its called.

I watch Barrett-Jackson at times but it should be aired as a filler and not at the expense of live racing. You know where SPEED's priorities are when they pull Bob Varsha off of F1 to do a car auction. It is bass-ackwards!
