This is FOX we're on about though, I wouldn't be amazed if they do move NASCAR for something less important and justify it with 'oh <whatever> is more important'

Hypothetical scenario, let's suppose that FOX gets the rights to the Chase instead of ESPN, would they let NCAA/NFL interfere with NASCAR or put football on a seperate channel?

FOX would never move the NFL to another channel. If FOX ever had the chase, that would almost certainly be on FS1 or FX.

Even if Fox got the chase. Its not up to them were they show the games. It is up to the NFL. They NFL will not allow them to move the games.

Now as far as what will happen to ARCA races, K&N races etc. I'm not sure, maybe that Fox Sports One 3 or whatever it's called will pick them up, and I hope thats what happens.

I think the ARCA and K&N races, as well as Practice and Qualifying sessions will no longer be televised.

Yeah, NFL's ratings are king (they'll make tons more on commercials and such) and therefore, will never be moved to a different channel.

I'm pretty sure ARCA has a contract with FOX. I'm probably wrong on that but I would imagine so.

If the NASCAR contract with FOX that was recently signed includes K&N races, they will be forced to broadcast them. Which would be fantastic.

As for practice and qualifying, without them, some fans would throw a fit. And they can't just fill program void with crap like I assume they will.

It depends on the terms of the rights contract. When Monday Night Football's contract was renewed by Disney, MNF was moved to ESPN off ABC because the rights to do so were negotiated into the contract.

Perhaps such terms are not in a TV contract currently held by FOX, CBS, NBC or anyone else who televises NFL games but there's no telling what future contracts might bring. There's a lot more money to be made by moving programming to a subscription service that all subscribers of a TV distributor receive.

I'm learning a great deal about this process from the Lakers' new TV rights contract debaccle. Right now 90% of the Lakers' TV market can't get the games because they're exclusively on a new channel owned by Time Warner Cable who won't allow other distributors carry the channel unless its on a basic tier. In other words, unless nearly all subscribers of that distributor receive the channel whether they actually wanted to or not. Why do they hold out for this? Because TWC's compensation for allowing competing distributors to offer the channel is based on how many of that distributor's subscribers are receiving that channel, that strategy is how TWC will maximize what they're paid by their competitors.

ARCA just signed a multi-year extension with SPEED/FOX/NewsCorp/Whatever for 10 races live per year.

The current NASCAR contracts don't even run out for a year or two yet so don't expect any changes there either.

Matt we went through this a few years ago. When the NFL network got rights to Thursday night games. The Packers played the Cowboys. Both teams were then undefeated. Guess what unless you had Direct tv or dish you didn't get to see the game. Local stations were saying for a week they would be able to carry the game. As par with the packers tv contract. But a few minutes before kickoff the NFL said no.

The packers had no Thursday night game in till last year. That is when all cable providers in the state had the NFL network. But guess what you have to pay for it. To me one Thursday night game is not worth the 120 bucks a year.

Obviously we arn't losing anything, everything that has been shown this year will continue to be though some things moved to FS2 at the most.
