after doing some reading i figured out how to do it so i thought i would pass it along you have to click on the car model than go to group on the top menu click ungroup than select the camera once you have done this go to material editor find a empty map and drag it to the camera and rename that item in the material editor camera and once you have done this you can choos blinn basic parameters choose diffuse and you can change the camera color to whatever you choose once you have done this go back to group on the top menu and click group and name it whatever pops up and now you have a colorable camera for your render. I know this is a common for most people but noobs like me can use the help lol

The easiest thing to do in a scene where you want to edit a material but you either can't find the sphere or there isn't one for it is to use the eyedrop tool. Highlight an empty sphere then eyedrop the material from the viewport into it. This way you don't lose any reflection settings, or sub maps if it has any. If you don't know what tool I'm talking about let me know and I'll get you a pic.
