Hey Everybody!

Welcome to the SRD National Series information thread. Most of this information is copy/paste from the 2018 thread, but I encourage everyone to read carefully, as there are some new updates and features.

MOD
NXS20 by SRD

MANUFACTURERS
Chevrolet Camaro
Ford Mustang
Toyota Supra

ELIGIBILITY
Anyone, regardless of post count, can participate in the SRD National Series as a driver. It is heavily preferred that all team owners be an active participant here in the boards at Sim Racing Design.

Normally, participation in the SRD National Series will allow access into the SRD Cup Series if you have less than 500 posts. However, the SRD Cup series is currently inactive and may not return.

TEAMS
Assuming we get a full field, there will be 12 teams, with each team having 3 cars apiece for a maximum of 36 cars. If we do not fill the field, teams will be capped at 3 drivers regardless.

Teams that participated in the 2018 season will have first claims to 2020 team positions. For teams owned by banned members, ownership will transfer to the remaining drivers if they desire to take over the team. If not, the team slot will be released. If all drivers on a team are banned, the slot will be released.

Remaining open team positions after a set amount of time will be filled by new teams wanting to join the series. This will be largely at a first-come, first-served basis. I reserve the right to determine priority for more active members, or those that have been on or owned a team in the SRD National Series in previous years.

RATINGS
The ratings system that will be used for 2020 is something entirely different. Instead of using a rating set based on track type, we're going to use ratings based on the Top-3 of the 2019 Xfinity Series Standings.

The three base options are as follows:
1. 2019 Tyler Reddick
2. 2019 Cole Custer
3. 2019 Christopher Bell

The base ratings will be calculated using NRatings, and posted in the Ratings thread for reference.

For strategy, all drivers will be given an allowance for their personal traits (Aggression, Consistency, Finishing, and Qualifying), track specialties, and vehicle traits (Aerodynamics, Chassis, Engine, and Reliability). Drivers will use their allowance to modify their base ratings as desired. Drivers can also choose not to use their allowance and keep their base ratings.

For the points allowance, drivers will use the 2/4/6/8 allowance from last year. However, this year, drivers must split their choices as additions and subtractions. For example: -2 Aggression, -4 Finishing, +6 Consistency, +8 Consistency; -2 Road Course, -6 Short Track, +8 Speedway, +4 Super Speedway; -4 Aero, -2 Chassis, +6 Engine, +8 Reliability.

The allowance will be applied to both MIN and MAX values.

These base ratings currently have a higher pit crew rating (80-100). In order to shake up pit road more, these will likely be kicked down to 10-100.

SPONSORSHIP
Sponsors used in the previous season are reserved by the driver/team that used them. If a driver would like to use a sponsor that's currently used by another driver, please clear the usage of that sponsor with the driver before claiming it as your own. I have no problems with more than 1 team using the same sponsor as long as the two paint schemes can easily be differentiated on the track.

Normally, there's some stipulations around Cup Series sponsors being used - however, since the CUP Series is currently inactive, these stipulations have been lifted. If the CUP Series returns, and the National Series runs after 2020, these stipulations might be reevaluated at that time.

SPECIAL PAINT SCHEMES
SRD National Series drivers may use as many paint schemes as they desire, as long as I receive a paint scheme schedule so I know when to run each paint scheme.

ROOKIE ELIGIBILITY
A rookie is considered any driver that is running in their first full-season of competition. All drivers considered as rookies in the 2018 season will be eligible for the 2020 ROTY since the season ended early.

SCHEDULE
The SRD National Series will run a 20-race schedule for 2020. The schedule will feature 5 races each at the 4 different track types (short track, speedway, superspeedway, road course). Some events maybe be double-headers.

BASE POINTS FORMAT
Once again, the SRD National Series will use NASCAR's point structure for the Xfinity series. First place will get 40 points. For positions 2-36, 2nd will get 35 points, and points will decrease by 1 for each position 3rd-36th (34, 33, 32, etc.).

Each driver is also eligible for a base amount of bonus points as follows: 3 for most laps led, 2 for pole, and 1 for leading a single lap.

Owners points will use the same base points structure, but will use a 1/1/1 point structure for bonus points. Owners points will not include stage points.

STAGE RACING
Stage racing will return to the SRD National Series for the 2018 season.

Races will only have 1 stage. Any races with special stipulations will be noted in their respective threads.

All drivers will be able to earn Stage points at the end of the 1/3 mark of each event. Stage points will be awarded to the top 10, with the leader getting 10 Stage points and 10th place getting 1 Stage point. 1 Playoff point will be awarded to the stage winner.

An additional 5 Playoff points will be awarded to the race winner.

The Championship 4 drivers will not be eligible for Stage or Playoff points in the final race.

DASH 4 CASH FORMAT (Name TBD)
Something new for the 2020 season will be the Dash 4 Cash.

Much like NASCAR's Dash 4 Cash format, the top four finishers in the event held prior to the first Dash 4 Cash race will be eligible to compete. After the first Dash 4 Cash race, the winner of the Dash 4 Cash and the top 3 finishers will be eligible for the next event, and so-on. The 4 events for Dash 4 Cash will be detailed when the schedule is released.

However, since we're not dealing with cash here (sorry folks), the prize for winning will be 20 bonus points.

CHAMPIONSHIPS
The following championships will be awarded at the end of the season:
1. Driver champion
2. Owner champion
3. Rookie of the Year
4. Team champion
5. Manufacturer champion

CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT
For the fourth season in a row, the SRD National Series will use the playoff championship system similar to the one used in NASCAR.

Any winners in the first 12 races will be guaranteed a spot in the Chase. Remaining spots will be filled via driver point standings. There will be 12 participants entering the Chase.

After the first four races, the bottom four Chase contenders will be eliminated. 8 will advance to the next round.

A win by a Chase driver will automatically advance them into the next round.

Three races after that, the bottom 4 remaining Chase contenders will be eliminated. The final 4 Chase contenders will compete for the championship. Highest-finishing of the Championship 4 will be the champion regardless of bonus points for laps led or most laps led.

GREEN-WHITE-CHECKERED PROCEDURE
In the event that a race was to end its regulation distance under caution, a Green-White-Checkered finish procedure will be used.

1. All drivers on the lead lap, along with the highest-running driver off of the lead lap will be given 15 minutes to repair their cars as much as they can.
2. All other lapped cars will be eliminated from contention. Finishing position will be determined by where the driver finished at the end of regulation.
3. There will be as many Green-White-Checkered attempts given as needed to finish the race under green flag conditions.
4. In the event of a second, third, etc. attempt at a Green-White-Checkered finish. The next highest driver off of the lead lap at the end of regulation will either get back on the lead lap (if only 1 lap down), or get a lap back (if 2+ laps down). This process repeats itself with every attempt made until all cars that were off the lead lap but still running at the end of regulation is on the lead lap.
5. After the white flag is taken, the next flag will end the race since drivers race back to the caution anyway.

RACE BROADCASTS
Race updates will be posted in weekly race threads throughout the season. Participants are encouraged to participate in race update threads.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you have questions, please ask them below. Note that any updates to the above information will be detailed below as they are made.

Thanks for joining us for the 2020 season!

This might seem like a n00b Q...

Is this an AI only Series? Or Player Vs AI and results added together?

All good man! This is an entirely AI driven series. My only involvement will be watching the races, and throwing cautions as needed.

do we have to claim ROTY if we're fine with the 2018 outcome?

Nope, participation by 2018 ROTY contenders is optional. Just wanted to open it up since it was a short season
