It was a great points week for a lot of people, with 31 of 32 topping 600 points. 19 went over 700, with 6 eclipsing the 800 point mark.

It was an even better week to be a Chaser, as the cream rose to the top. 3 Chasers were in the top 5, 5 in the top 10, and 9 in the top 15. The lowest finishing Chaser ended up with a very respectable 18th place finish.

Taking the checkers this week is an entrant who has been fairly accustomed to victory lane over the past three years. DE3 wins the second race of the Chase, snagging his 2nd victory of the season, and the 8th of his career. With his 8th win, he breaks a tie with DannyM to move into sole possession of first on the SRD Pick'em Series All-Time Wins List!

Congratulations to DE3 on his win! :)

Coming in second is a Chaser who surged towards the Chase, but has fallen off over the past few weeks. taz1458 gets back to normal, with a solid 831 point, 2nd place finish. moppenheimer continues a stretch of very solid runs as he finishes 3rd, with a newly resurgent Mike24, who has really slumped lately, finishing in 4th. db512 rounded out the top 5.

Of the remaining Chasers, mathwiz88 finished 8th, DannyM 10th, jgegner 11th, JeffJordan 12th, DB2403 and John Gregorio were involved in a tie for 13th. smokin_fast24 continues his relative tailspin of late, and rounds out the tail end of the Chase field in 18th place this week. However, he did have a very respectable 732 point total.

JeffJordan maintains the points lead this week, increasing his lead to 56 points over 2nd place smokin_fast24. DannyM remains in 3rd, picking up 14 points on the lead, just 75 out of the lead. DE3 jumps up two spots from 6th to 4th. The 2008 Champ does it on the strength of his win, and makes huge gains in the points, moving from 220 back to just 80 back of the lead. John Gregorio loses 7 points to the lead, and sits 97 back in 5th place. jgegner slips to 6th, but gains 4 points on the lead. mathwiz88 is 7th, with taz1458 moving into 8th, as Mike24 slips back to 9th. All three of them gained on the points lead. DB2403 is 10th, 413 points out of first.

Overall, this is the closest the Chase field has been, from top to bottom, after two Chase races, ever. This is especially true of the top 6, whom you could conceivably throw a blanket over, and any of them could come out of next week with the points lead.

In regards to the race for 11th place, db512 moves back into 11th, with moppenheimer moving into 12th, 45 back. NASCARsweden slips back to 13th, 122 out. antknee10 and baboontester round out the top 15.

Of the entrants outside of the Chase, of the 14, 13 were able to replace a low race with a better total this week. Of the 13, 2 Talladega, 2 Charlotte, 2 Martinsville, 1 Michigan, 1 Daytona, 1 Michigan Race 2, 1 Phoenix, 1 Indianapolis, 1 Las Vegas, and 1 Watkins Glen. The remaining entrant had a lower total than his current low total, this week at Dover Race 2.

Here are the low totals for those entrants outside the Chase, for next week:

On the Rookie of the Year side of things, db512 remains in the lead, with taz1458 in 2nd, chipping his lead down to 2 points. instantCLASSIC is in 3rd, 34 points out.

Here are the results:

Here are the standings:

Here are the rookie points:

The Kansas thread will be up tomorrow. :)

This didn't turn out too bad in my opinion for my first time. I'll try this a couple more times before deciding if I want to do this for real next season.

Oh course... Last week I didn't pick Dale Jr. and he finished 4th, but everytime I do pick him he ends up worse than 20th.

I believe the rule is a maximum of five races entered to be eligible for Rookie of the Year next year.

Thanks for the info. I still feel that this will be an interesting challenge to ease into, the only reason I hadn't started earlier was that frankly,I was a bit confused by how it works (both in terms of picking and the scoring system).

My First Race: Bad
My Second: Worse
My Third: Better
My Fourth: 2nd.

Your First Race: 796

It takes some adapting...but look at me now. :)

I kinda figured that (maybe it was just confusing because I was used to the system for the PTRW at RuRa).

Yeah...I've looked at the PTRW format, and it seems like it doesn't have enough strategy for what I wanted to do. Pick'em may be a bit more difficult to understand, but I think there is a good amount of strategy to it...the dynamic of having 5 drivers to pick...and being able to score high on off weeks with less than conventional picks, when the favorites fall out.

Just noticed my mistake, there. I must have looked at last week's standings as I typed that last part out...:)
