157....crap. I think I am out of the chase.

Wow. I have got to be the biggest Choker in the history of pickem.

Dominated 08' choked in the chase, started the first half of this season with the best average by a few points, and now, the average drops like 12 points, and possibly missing the chase -_- this hurts.

Ugh, I came so close to picking Kurt over Clint but I was afraid Kurt would have a bad race if I picked him again. I was thinking ao also picking Carl but didn't like his speed, too bad I didn't know about the caution during green flag pit stops. XD Overall, much better than it could have been if I picked my "usual" Richmond drivers like Kyle Busch, Brian Vickers, and Jimmie Johnson. :D

Just in case anyone's wondering, Pick'em scores will be based on the official race results from Richmond.

This is what we have always done in light of any post-race penalties. These results are no more or less tainted than the results of any other race that was followed by a post-race penalty before this one. It's a shame the Chase cutoff has to come after a race followed by a penalty but that's out of all our hands. Take it up with the guys found in violation of Nascar rules.

Scores have been tabulated and the 2013 Chase field is set. Now to reconfigure the standings into Chase mode and reset all non-Chase scores to the best 22 races instead of 15.

That'll take another day or two. Hopefully results and everything will be up on Wednesday night.

Drama in Richmond unfortunately also has had an impact on the SRD Pick'em Chase as well as the Chase for the Sprint Cup. All we can do is go off the official race results and take up the rest with the teams found in violation of Nascar rules I'm afraid. With that, let's get to the recap and announcement of the 2013 SRD Pick'em Chase.

Scores were up slightly from last week, though the bar wasn't exactly high there. This week's field of 57 combined for an average of 150.33 points. Nobody cracked the 200 mark, and only the top 5 cracked 175. But of course the main story is the Chase and who did what to either make or miss the Chase. This week's winner won't be a Chaser, but a first victory is always sweet nonetheless. Congrats to the Ghost888 on the win this week that was not easy with so many competitors throwing Hail Mary's trying to improve their scores somehow. bigrolltide1877 came home in 2nd place, with Sgt. Slaughter collecting more key bonus points in his quest for a Wild Card berth in 3rd, and a tie between NAlt4 and racingkid39 for 4th to round out the top 5. ChandlerTyson scores a clutch top 10 finish in 6th, with MattSRD28 and Fishtail in a tie for 7th. canadienhits finished 9th with mk#17fan rounding out the top 10.

Congrats to the Ghost888 on the win! :)

Now let's talk about the Chase. As you know, the Chase has 10 entrants plus 2 Wild Cards. It was a very tight race for some of those top 10 spots going in. jaqua99 was only 2 points back of 10th going into Richmond. Defending series champion roostmotor87 was a wild card and only 4 points out of the top 10. Unfortunately despite both players adding to their scores in Richmond, both came up just a little bit short of making the Chase.

It was clutch Richmond performances that earned spots in the Chase for a lucky few. It was a foregone conclusion that antknee10, DannyM, ShadowKnight508 and the like were going to make the Chase. But, for three players in particular, key top 10s at Richmond have vaulted them into the Chase. racingkid39 came into Richmond only 8 points ahead of 11th, but a solid top 5 finish provided enough points to be firmly in the Chase. ChandlerTyson makes the Chase after coming into Richmond 14th in the standings, but a 6th place finish was enough to cover that spread. Perhaps the most clutch of all besides the win in Richmond was Sgt. Slaughter who, going into Richmond in 40th place, knew his only chance of making the Chase was a Wild Card berth, but needed to score bonus points himself or needed roostmotor87 to get into the top 10. But the Sgt. took matter into his own hands and cobra clutched a 3rd place finish in Richmond, adding 8 bonus points and earning Wild Card #1.

Let's all give a big congrats to the 2013 SRD Pick'em Chase field represented in the graphic below:

Way to go folks, and best of luck to all as you try to outduel each other in the quest to occupy the now vacated Champion's throne. :)

With that, let's first look at the full results from Richmond:

Here's how the regular season points standings finished up to set the Chase field:

After the Chase field is set, the standings were reset for the Chase, but in a little different way than how Nascar does it. Here's how the Chase lineup is set as described by SRD Pick'em creator Mike24:
Everyone will be set at 4000 points, with all of their bonus points added to that total. Their weekly average will be added in, as well. Additionally, bonus points will be awarded to Chase entrants, based on regular season finishing order. 1st will receive 30 points, 2nd will get 25 points, 3rd will get 20 points, 4th receives 17 points, and 5th gets 15 points. 6th place will get 14 points, with increments of 1 point going down to 10th place, which will get a 10 point bonus.

Here are the other points added in:

-2 pt bonus per reg. season win
-To balance out the bonus points column (as people have more races than others), "buffer points" will be added.

Buffer points are total bonus points over races pre-chase, divided by total weeks entered, multiplied by the number of weeks short of 26 races, and then divided by 2.

Additionally, non-Chase scores now include the best 22 races instead of the best 15. That means everyone's 7 best previously dropped scores have been re-added into your respective totals. For those who have not entered 22 races yet, whatever scores had been dropped have all been re-added. Dropping of lowest scores will continue through the end of the season to ensure standings are comprised of the best 22 races of the year for each player.

For Chasers, your best 7 of the 10 Chase races will be added to your existing score. No races will be dropped until the 8th Chase race in Texas.

Here's what the standings are now after the Chase reset:

Here are the Rookie points:

Finally, the Scores the Beat for all non-Chasers:

If anybody has any questions, feel free to ask or shoot me a PM. Congrats to those in the Chase. Good luck to everyone in and out of the Chase. See you in Chicagoland!

Sort of limped into the Chase field with several sub-par runs the past few weeks. Just glad to have performed well enough in order to take part in the 2013 SRD Pick Em Chase. I would like to thank everyone for making it interesting in the first 26 races, especially MattSRD28 for putting this wonderful game together and allowing me to contribute to each week's thread (with banners/graphics). In addition, congrats to antknee10 on winning the 26-race regular season with his 3 wins.

Also, congrats to theGhost888 on picking up the 2013 SRD Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond event.
