Scores were better this week thanks to most top contenders doing well, even if some were involved in a post-race scuffle or two.
This week saw a short field of just 48 entrants whose scores were mostly high. 40/48 reached 180 or better. 12/48 all broke 200. The winning score reached all the way up to 220.
Our winner this week is rather appropo. Not only did a Chaser take the win and punch their ticket into the Elimination Round, but it is also the three year anniversary of our winner's first ever SRD Pick'em win. Three years ago this weekend was the first win, and today marks the 9th career win for Fishtail. Coming in a close second just 4 points back was rookie Ryan597, followed closely by Chaser USSTalladega in third, wslates in 4th, and another rookie CarlEdwardsRulez in 5th place.
Congrats to Fishtail on the win and for being locked into the next round of the Chase! (y)

Fishtail's high winning score combined with some regrettable finishes by other Chasers have spread out the Chase standings heading into the crapshoot that is Talladega. Fishtail's win leaves just 7 open spots to be claimed. While Talladega can be unpredictable, there is now a 74 point margin between 2nd and 8th place. This could prove a daunting challenge for those 8th-12th who are looking to move up. Only one can move on via a win.

The win also propels Fishtail into the points lead, not that it matters much with the win locking him in. ThatOneShredder falls clear to 5th with USSTalladega rising up to 2nd place. roostmotor87 was in the danger zone in 10th but has managed to rise up to the bubble position of 8th place. XxTeam48LowesXx falls from the safety of 7th to the pressure-packed 10th place and needing to make gains on his competitors in order to remain alive in the Chase. blueman feels a bit better rising from 8th to 6th, while the clouds grow darker for DanAsher26 who lost 40+ points to the leader in Charlotte.
Hendrick4life remains top amongst non-Chasers, but his lead was cut by 7 points, with DannyM making a huge gain and moves up clear to 19th.

On the rookie front, 2nd place KG_24 did not enter Charlotte, thereby extending ThatOneShredder's lead in the rookie points to 38. It will be very difficult to overcome that, but more second place finishes would put current third place Ryan597 right in contention for the upset.
