The crap shoot that is Talladega is now in the rearview mirror. Yes there was some carnage and mayhem but I think for a lot people, the impression that was left was akin to, "Well not great, but could have been worse!" Yes we have seem much worse. We've seen better, but we've seen worse.
Of the 50 brave souls who were daring enough to take on the roll of the dice at Talladega, 13 made it past the 150 mark. That may not seem like much, but we've seen worse. The top 4 all made it to 180 or higher. Seems fitting that this week's winning score was 188 since that's how many laps a 500 mile race at Talladega is. This week's winner is our 10th different winner in the first 10 races of 2015. You 9 race winners so far will just have to try again next week. Bringing home the bacon at Talladega was SebaXRuiz taking a 4th career victory, though the first three were under a different name. westracing01 almost became a rookie winner, but fell just 2 points short. But it was a correct Gordon pole pick that nabbed the 2nd place position, since roostmotor87 came home in 3rd place only 1 point behind the rookie. Goes to show you just how important every pick is and every point is on any given week. Pick'em vet NAlt4 finished 4th, with 2010 Pick'em Champion jgegner rounding out the top 5.
Congrats to SebaXRuiz on the win!
The standings that had been closing in widened back out again after Talladega. XxTeam48LowesXx remains the points leader so far with a newly-increase lead of 23 points over 2nd place bigrolltide1877. Fishtail entered Talladega in 2nd place only 1 point back, but a 19th place finish set the Fish back to 3rd place. DannyM and CpPolar268 have switched places with DannyM now occupying the 4th place spot in the standings, and CpPolar268 patrolling 5th. NAlt used a top 5 Talladega finish to leap clear into 6th place from 15th last week. roostmoto87 made an even bigger leap with his podium finish. roost is now 7th after entering Talladega in 19th place. Rookie westracing01 rides a runner-up finish into 8th place in points after entering Talladega in 21st place. johnnyk1990 improves one spot in 9th, with Boomer slipping back to 10th to round out the top 10 in points.
What might be the best battle of all so far is the rookie battle. After falling into a tie last week, Oceanic has been officially dethroned by westracing01. The new leader sits atop the standings by 8 points over the former leader, with AJGRacing now in 3rd in the rookie standings.
And now without any further tl;dr, here are the full results from Talldega:
Here are the standings heading for Kansas:
Finally, the rookie points:
Big thanks to the 50 bold and daring enough to take on Talladega. Don't forget the forthcoming Kansas race is Saturday night. Be sure to get those picks in before the green flag! Hope to see you there!
