I think it alters the physics so they're more like a Daytona USA/Cruisin'/Need4Speed game where it acts a bit less realistic, yet is easier to drive.

You can counter the setup hooking the steering to the right or left by counter calibrating it. That's what I've been doing for 3 years. Works pretty well for me, and it doesn't slow me at all.

Recalibrating the wheel is fine. I'm talking about trying to compensate for it on the setup. You dont want to try to compensate for it by tweaking the set up, that will slow you down. You can do whatever you want with the wheel, it wont affect the physics of the setup.

As alot of people have already mentioned, its completely normal and supposed to do that. This is a stock car racing simulation, not some "need for speed" type arcade game.
