Ricky Stenhouse Jr., who won the 2011 Nationwide Series title, will compete in the 2012 Daytona 500 in Roush Fenway Racing's #6 Ford. The team does not expect to run the unsponsored car for the full season but is locked into the first five races based on owners points from 2011 when the car was driven by David Ragan. The only race confirmed for now is the Daytona 500. The team currently does not have a sponsor for the race, team spokesman Kevin Woods said. Stenhouse will participate in the NASCAR test next week at Daytona International Speedway to prepare for the Daytona 500. Whether he runs a full Nationwide schedule in 2012 has not been solidified, Woods said.

I don't mind this at all. I just hope that he doesn't run the full Cup season.

Surprised no one has replied to this. Nice to see Stenhouse get a ride.

Hopefully Blackwell Angus Beef will be the sponsor.

Glad to hear this, good for Ricky even though it's probably just Roush wanting to run an even number of cars at the Restrictor plate races.

I hope they confirm a full Nationwide season for him. If they can't secure enough sponsorship to run the 6 car in Cup for more than a handful of races, they should at least give him another season in NW to defend his title.

Jack Roush said that between Trevor or Ricky the one that raced the #21 would get a partial Nationwide schedule and the other would run full time in the Nationwide series. Based on that Ricky will defend his title!

"Whether or not he runs a full schedule in Nationwide is not solidified."

I doubt Roush will field unsponsored Nationwide cars this year. He has the # 17 to field all year, and he has committed to keeping the # 17 at the track for the whole season.

He's been fielding unsponsored Nationwide rides for close to two years now.

It sucks that even Roush can't get sponsors on his cars.
I think the only car set for 2012 with full sponsors is the 16 in cup. (Carl is still down 10 races I believe)

But Jack Roush hasn't had to field a Cup car unsponsored the last two seasons.

He had a full-time sponsor in Conway Freight for the # 6 F150 and dropped that team because he was STILL operating in "the red."

Since he has committed to Kenseth and the # 17 with or without sponsorship, I don't see him footing the bill for a Nationwide car to run unsponsored.

More then that. In the years 2000-2002 Jack Roush had unrolled a unsponsored car for Daytona. (2000 Kevin Lepage, 2001 Kurt Busch, 2002 Greg Biffle)

That still isn't the same as a full season, however. It's really easy, compared to most races, to get a sponsor for the Daytona 500. LePage earned a sponsor for the first two races and another for the rest of the season, Busch managed to get sponsors after race #7 after earning a top 5 finish and the #16 went unused for 2001 and most of 2002 due to a lack of sponsorship.
