The last 4 days have been extremely difficult for me. Last Friday I walked through the front door to the sound of the phone ringing. It was my mother on the other end letting me know that my cousin, who was also my best friend had passed away. I couldn't believe what I was hearing....I did not want to hear it either.
My cousin had always been there for me & as I was for him. When his brother died suddenly, I was there for him & when my mother had to have surgery to remove a brain tumor, I stayed with him until she was able to come home. Every year since I can remember, we hunted together, fished together & watched football on Sundays.
I have been keeping busy since Friday...painting cars, doing choirs the wife had been wanting me to do that I have been putting off & so on but reality sat in today as we laid him to rest. There will be no more hunting trips for us or football games for us to watch on Sundays. Then I got to thinking, his daughter will not have him to walk her down the aisle when she grows up. His son will have to look else where for that fatherly advice when he reaches a tough spot on lifes road.
Enjoy your family, enjoy your friendships. Do not take time for granted.
Steve, my buddy....you will be missed!
