I only see harm to iRacing, a lot of people prefer painting over racing, including myself. I don't really see any wrong in doing so, but all the painters out there who don't race won't subscribe to iRacing, which can cost the company a lot of money with all the people who think the same way I do.

lol, I think all iRacing members joined iRacing to race. I like to paint, but I also like to race, too.

Accually Jeff, I perfer painting much more then racing. I don't do much of either now but I just joined iRacing to be able to use the most realistic sim to date thats being made by the same Papyrus boys that created Nr2003. I've never been involved with any leagues or anything, I just race every now and then for my enjoyment. People can debate the cost forever, but the way I look at is if you can't pay it just get over it. There is no reason to constantly bash it for that reason.
