i think it's just Sierra isn't getting any money in from it...so they're pulling the plug.

Not really sure what the big deal is. All they're doing is shutting down the "Sierra Lobby" service meaning no more pick up races. You can still race via IP though. I can't say I'm saddened by this...it was going to happen eventually.

I've been in a ton of pick up races and the quality of racing and the racers themselves were very low. Wrecks every third lap or so, running without yellows and/or damage, admins ejecting people just because they were getting outrun, people pulling Days of Thunder moves when wrecks happen in front of them...all pick up races really did for me is ruining my LPI. That's exactly why I started running in leagues. Every now & then, I'd find a race with decent racers and the occasional bit of competition but they were few and far between.

Now that I say all that, I'm glad they pulled the plug. Maybe all the wreckers and hackers will go play some other game...and maybe the people who actually want to race will join leagues and still find ways to enjoy the game.

It does effect me but again it doesn't. I did go pick up racing but only with some friends of mine. My friends also had mess around servers too. But what about the leagues out there who can't switch to IP? Thats instant death to those leagues. I don't have to worry because ASRS uses IP but I would like to see the Lobby stay because there are still some decent servers.

I sent an e-mail to them, and i got one back, it said to make room for "future" games, which to me is a bunch of bull crap.

Don't worry, it's not the end of NR2003 or pickup racing. There still will be pickup and league racing. Just with out sierra. Upside is, better pings, less lag and warp. Sit tight and things will work themselves out.

Everyone.. GET A HOLD OF YOURSELVES! Just because the Online Racing is gone, doesn't mean it's the end of the world. I mean there will stil be new mods, cars, tracks, and much more! Just go with it.

Amen to that!
