It was also built off of years-old code which didn't function right half the time. (video filters didn't work half the time and when they did it pulled up the wrong content, never mind the phantom comment pages where an article would have about 150 comment pages and yet only 8 of them had anything on them)
Say what you want about how it works, at least it does now lol
Oh look. Something else for the Nascar fans to complain about.
Seriously, is it really that bad? In my opinion, no it's not, other than the fact that it needs some more eye candy. It's like the Facebook timeline thing. Everyone will whine and moan about it until a month or so passes then it will be like it never happened.
I haven't liked NASCAR.com the past 3 times they have changed it. I should apply to build a website for them.. Whoever builds their site really has no idea what they're doing. Their pages are always such a mess.
It's not bad. I hate the colors and it lacks spunk and a certain pop. The sizes of everything is wrong. What's up with that head and text size? And then they put their money making links at the very freakin' bottom?!?!
Change is very rarely embraced for whatever reason. Seems like some people (just in general) get used to something, and then when its changed, they're automatically going to complain. And to be honest, in some cases I think they're not even sure exactly what they're complaining about. Its like they're hard-wired to try to find something. But just like anything else, people will get used it, and they'll forget all about the previous layout.
Personally, I think its much more organized than the previous version. Everything on the page is centered top to bottom, and theres less menu links at the top of the page. Before, they had stuff all over the place. Links to the left, links to the right, links in the middle, and a whole bunch of menus on the toolbar.
I kind of like it, to be honest. It's modern, which is what NASCAR needs. But I think it may be too trendy for some fans.
But on the other hand, I think the mobile version is just junk. It's taking a bad approach by throwing all kinds of fun facts into your small screen. And onto of that, the mobile page doesn't elastic scroll, so it's slow and laggy.
