I had some spare 2x4's lying around, so I just stood it up so I could get to the underside... had to spray all of it with a rubber-type paint for insulation of sorts.

Oh, and all of the gray is now gloss black. Once the bed is on the truck, I'll do the rest.

Then comes the fun part... taking the sides off the old bed, unscrewing the RUSTED OUT bolts, (woo hoo), and redoing the process with the new one.

Basically a whole week without the truck on the road.

I was talking about sanding the bed part. Were all the ridges are. Since the ridges are small. You usually can't do the valleys with a power sander. So your on your knees the whole time.

As for rusted bolts. I have four things I try. If the first three don't work. Number four dose the job. Some sort of penetrating spray. I have found out break cleaner works the best. If that still don't work. A pipe about 3-5ft long works. I know people that have been doing that for years. Never had a breaker bar break. If it breaks it was not a good tool. If that still don't work. I grab a torch to heat it up. In till it glowing. Then try to remove it. 9/10 times with a impact gun. The bolt will come out.

Next the quickest way I know. Cut the thing off. I don't care if you use a torch, saws all, or a cut off wheel. But you have to know your grade of bolts before trying the last two. Other wise you will be just waiting you time, and you money on blades or disk. But there is risk. You have to watch for oil and gas lines with a cut off wheel or touch.

OH, it's been awhile since I sanded it so I completely forgot about that step XD

Believe it or not, it only took about 15 minutes to sand the bed.

Used 600 grit sandpaper since the rust on the top ridges and grooves was so light.

The sides and frame is where my knees will be begging for mercy (n)

And the bolts... yeah more than likely will come down to cutting or using a torch. They didn't move a cm last time I tested em'.

Heating them with a torch will usually do the trick. Metal expands while heated, and has saved me plenty of energy breaking bolts lose. Just be careful if you have put a penetrating fluid on them prior, as some like to be really flammable. Avoid cutting them, as I have found out, there is no bolt that wont break lose, at the worst it will snap the stud and then your at the point of cutting anyway.

As everyone knows, I'm not on a whole lot anymore. However, while my car is getting detailed (I don't have the proper equipment to shampoo the seats and make everything like-brand-new spiffy again), I'm just sitting around and went through this entire thread. Just thought I should post some pics of my ride. I present to you, my beautiful 86 Bronco II. *Very Large Pictures*

Sitting on a 3" body lift and 2" suspension lift with 33"s stuffed under it. 3.5 liter fuel injected V6, 12,000 lb winch on the front. Looking to straight axle it and build it into a crawler like my brother's ranger
