I'll hopefully be in one of these by Wednesday. Found one for $3000 that is in awesome shape for the price.

Here's a photographic journey through my personal automotive history.

My first car. 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS. Quite a first car. It had been my aunt's and when my uncle became a parapalegic they needed a van, and sold it to me for $10k in 2003 with only 23k miles on it. I then proceeded to get a job straight out of HS and you can see where ALL of my money went. Looking back, I wish I had saved it all. Because in the end, the tranny started going bad among about 7-8 other problems, and it was out of warranty. I miss it like you miss a first girlfriend...you had some great times but you know why you left her.

In 2007 I was making good money and with the Monte's issues I decided to buy a new vehicle, specifically a truck. Now, this is where I went wrong. I had the money at the time but wasn't thinking long term...and went with a nearly fully loaded 2007 Chevrolet Silverado LT.

I miss that thing...so much. However, everyone know what happened around 2007-2008 concerning gas and the economy. I was suddenly driving a 15MPG truck in a time when gas became over $4 a gallon. And then, my place of work went out of business and I was laid off. The new job paid just barely half what I was making, and the truck, as badass as it was, was becoming a burden. I never hauled anything either, and it was really impractical. Like California-DMV-registration-is-$500 impractical.

But god, it was badass. Especially with my side exit Flowmasters... *sigh*

And last but not quite least, my 2009 Honda Accord EX. I ditched the truck for something much more practical in size and in MPG. I didn't like anything Chevy had out at the time (The Monte Carlo had gotten the axe and wasn't appealing to me anyway) and I can't fit into a Cobalt too well. My girlfriend suggested Honda, and as I started to check out the coupe Accord I fell in love. I think it's the blue that did it. I wanted the V6 EX-L but couldn't afford it. Still a great looking car, and the reason why I create all of those Accord templates for NR2003 :)

Unlike the other two, this one is still 100% stock except for the SF Giants sticker on the back window. I'd love to get some larger wheels for it, at least 18", but the budget doesn't allow it. I'm thinking I'll be keeping this one and it will become the fiancee's when her 2000 Accord sedan bites the dust. Either that, or it'll be traded in for a more family friendly 4-door. I'm thinking...Buick Regal GS. :)

When i see threads like these in forums they get me pumped!

I have many stories about cars throughout my life back in 1996 my friend bought a 1990 Nissan Skyline GTS-t. (Not sure on the Type Model, im 90% sure it was a 1990 car). Just like the one in the pic it was.

THREE WEEKS LATER he crashed the car into a tree whilst racing some nutters in a similar car...

If your gonna Race on the streets make sure your brakes work :D

He went to hospital but only came out with a bruise on his leg.

It drives even better than it looks.

My girlfriend and her cousin are thinking about getting a toy. They both want to learn to drive a standard, but there's no way I'm letting a novice behind the wheel of my car.

So, a little Pininfarina roadster is for sale in the area that they're thinking about for $2500. It looks like it needs a fair amount of help cosmetically, but the mechanicals are sound. And of course, I'd probably end up having to do all of the work on it before teaching them how to drive it.

NOTE: I though it might be best to revive this thread for this rather than start a new one, but if the moderators here feel otherwise let me know.

I am not much of a car guy, so I have never heard of that car... XD

Doesn't look like a bad "learning car" though.

I think I'm going to like driving my first car... :)

2011 Chevy Impala LT, V6 engine, with FlexFuel technology. One thing that fascinated me was the remote starter on the remote :D

Early Christmas present. My parents were going to wait until Dec. 25th, but it's kinda hard to hide something this large XD

Haha, yeah. Some how my parents were able to hide a whole side of sheetmetal (Jamie McMurray's 200? Crown Royal car) from me. That was a pretty good feat.

Anyway, congratulations! Your parents are too nice. XD

As you can tell I like Toyota. The Toyota Camry is a great car (that is what I have) they just keep going and going. I read somewhere they have the most old running cars or something. Also the Camry is a very safe car which is extremely important if you get into a wreck. Just my 2 cents.

Finally! One of my own kind!

Lucky guy having parents buying him a car, congrats dude. 2011s are reeaallly nice when you don't have to be the one making the payments on them.

The thing is with a brand new car, you wince at the sight of another car parked next to you, or the sight of a bird. Even puddles bother you because they make the car dirtier. The mineral deposits left after a rainstorm are horrifying, and so is the sight of a speck of dust. I even find myself keeping a small brush and a lint roller in the car to take care of the dust. When that first ding or scratch happens you're ready for war (even when it's caused by a small fallen tree branch, you just want to beat the living pulp out of that damn tree).

That is one of the few things I miss about my Cherokee. Scratches? Who cares. Mud? Yes please. Dust? Who gives a flying fornication?

There's also a desire for something simpler. I love the Bluetooth connectivity on my Mazda, the Bose stereo, the bright lights, the effortless handling...yet sometimes you just have that longing for those older car quirks. Something you have to work to drive because it corners like an aircraft carrier and accelerates like a tranquilized cow. Nothing matches the looks of 60s and 70s sports cars.

I know, double post after 6 days.

This is noteworthy and different though.

Geico really is awesome. I just switched and I'm going to save $70 a month for twice as much coverage as I had with esurance. When my girlfriend hit a deer, Geico had an adjuster there within 48 hours and she had her car back and fixed in about a week and a half, so I know they're good too.

If only my Dad would listen to me and make the switch.....

Did you get an online quote before signing up? If so, how did that compare to what you ended up paying?

Also Geico is great because they support Nascar big time!

I doubled the coverage from the initial quote, but the price only went up about 25% from there.

Anthony I use to be like you when I got my srt-4. I was afraid to get it dirty. I was afraid of people parking next to me. I soon learned to enjoy the car. I still buff it and clean it all the time. But whats the point of owning a nice car if you freak out about every thing. You better off buying a car and never driving it. I buy sports cars to enjoy them. Not for looks. I drive every car I own like I stole them. Yes I pay for my own parts if I break any thing. I spend a weekend fixing any thing I break.

4wide in till your paying the bills mind your own business. You have no right telling your dad how to spend his money. If i would have told my dad how to spend his money. I would be six feet under. Also just because they support NASCAR or any other racing series. Is no reason to use a certain store, item, or what ever.

Did I say I was telling him what to do? No, I only showed him the numbers and suggested that he switch. Do you know my situation? No. It is my business and I do have a right to tell him what to do (to a point). You may be asking why? Because he borrowed about $8,500 to $9,000 from me, so it's kinda my money also. If (and I did check it out and it would) switching to another company would make my insurance cheaper at the same time as making his insurance cheaper and getting more coverage while we are at it shouldn't I try to get him to switch?

I didn't say I wanted to switch just because of the Nascar support, that was just icing on the cake. But that is a good thing to do if you want to support the companies that support Nascar!

My current car, (and I know James Hodge is Jealous) a 2010 Honda Accord EX-L Coupe V6.

Not my actual car, (Lost my camera a couple years back) but it looks exactly like this.
