This country as a being is completely off. You got people up north who think they're smarter than people down south. People out west who think their richer than those on the east. It's just plain stupified. Without one another this Country would be garbage.

As close to failure as this government is, don't be surprised in the next few years that a few states succeed thus creating a civil war. I'd put my money on the people from South over the people in the North. I'd take the people from the West over the people on the East.

Sorry for ranting, but I just feel like walking up to a Northerner and punching him until his eyes bleed, and walking up to a Westerner creating the biggest embarassment ever.

Lots of things, probably the main thing is not having the money to make my car payment. I've never been behind, yet I am a day late...I get 6 calls from Capital One telling me "I better this, I better that"...so I told them to come get it. They think they're not getting money now (one fn day)...let's see how much they get as it sits.

Hmmm. Not sure what to say about this other than that East Coast arrogance is a reality. Whenever I watch "national" TV all I hear is the eastern time zone, and any references to where I live are required to include the words "out west" or "out there" like I live on some distant planet.

People need to understand that no matter where we live, no matter what the geography, no one lives in a bubble. Everyone lives everywhere, and no one deserves to be marginalized for any reason, opinion, or location.

I think the reason most TV geographical references are in the east are because the capital is just out this away. I like all sorts of folks, and enjoy a good southern draaauw (<---attempt at southern draw). Actually the two groups of people I find most obnoxious are women from New Jersey and the Upper Upper Middle class, lower middle aged people from San Diego and LA. Not everyone in those groups mind you...just the majority of my experience.

That's how I feel when people scrutinize the south as nothing but beer drinking, NASCAR watching rednecks. Drives me nuts. Then again I shouldn't let it bother me, because people who say things like that just show how ignorant and inept they really are.

I completely agree. I love to travel and have been to all of the 48 continental states, but when I tell people I'm from Kansas, all they can do is make stupid Wizard of Oz references. A Lady in Michigan asked me if we still had covered wagons and lived in sod houses, can you believe that!? This country is the greatest that has ever been on this planet, yet it is still filled with ignorant and self righteous people. The sooner we can get over our differences in race, social standing and geographic origin the sooner we can focus on moving this country forward and reclaiming the pride that was once felt when telling people "I'm an American."

Just my two cents

Well something I was just thinking about is this...the majority of this Country feels like we're better than everyone else. Which unfortunately can end up tearing this place apart. Much like it did in the 1800s, there's nothing stopping it from doing the same this time. Different views and beliefs will forever be the threatening element of our society. Even if it is the United States of America, we are not immune to another Civil War.

Yeah. The closest finish on a road course is a .014 of a second, in F1, while the closest on an oval, Chicagoland, was an Indy Lights race that ended up being decided by a mere .0005 of a second, about 1/28 of that length.

Because 10 jocks bouncing a ball up & down a court & throwing it in an elevated bucket 50 some odd times is totally more exciting than cars going in circles...

Yeah, and you can pretty much dumb any sport (or activity) down to the most inane, fundamental attribute and make it seem stupid or boring:

Hockey's just a bunch of guys skating around and hitting each other
Gymnastics is just a bunch of people jumping and flipping around
Professional Poker is just a bunch of losers sitting around playing cards

This kind of thinking circumvents the main allure and draw of the event which is there is a challenge trying to be overcome. Someone is trying to achieve it and we are there to witness it happen. And beyond that, there is the community and relationships that form around said event which is what makes it more than bouncing a ball or baby.:GEEK:

Except there's this stereotype that usually quickly follows the "going around in circles" commentary which most of the time includes the adjective "redneck" to describe NASCAR fans and the relationships that form amongest race fans.

Personally, I see very little difference between adjectives like "redneck" and "nig - - - ". I'm sure you can fill in the 2nd half of that word. IMO, both are profane, hateful ways to describe a human being based on their appearance & origins. There shouldn't be a double standard there.

The fact that you have to cover one of those words up, and not the other is sad. What about Yankee? or Damned Yankee. Those are two I used a lot years ago, but fortunately as I've aged I have realized the only stereotype is the person committing to the word.
