...but how do you import a flat onto a model inside 3DS Max 2011? I just got it this morning and I'm really new to this stuff so any help would be greatly appreciated.

(I'm using the 1-car showroom scene from SimRacingUSA)

From the included ReadMe.txt

"Q: How do I apply my paint flat?
A: Open your material library (Press 'M'), and select the paint orb that corresponds to the manufacturer you want to apply your scheme to, and then click on the first matieral listed called "Paint". Under the "Main material parameters" rollout, the first line specifies the Diffuse level, and it's color. Click on the box all the way to the right has an 'M' in it. This is the box that assigns a diffuse map to the model. Below the "Bitmap Parameters" rollout is the line that specifies the file path to your paint flat. Once you provide the file path, the scheme should load automatically into the scene."
