It's been a long time since I posted at SRD due to constant design team related bickering...well I'm tired of it and done with it. We can't keep the community going when every jackass who knows how to use Photoshop decides they want credit and adulation, and care more that people like their stuff more than others. This is all ridiculous. DMR does great work, BCR does great work, Om3ga does great work, BR does great work, SRD does great work....quit moaning about multiple mods or trying to stifle a design team or whatever these petty little deals are. I don't care anymore. I've had unfortunate run-ins with a couple different design teams, and I'm not going to be loyal to a team anymore, I'm going to be loyal to the community. I suggest you all do the same and stop this mod vs. mod bickering and caterwauling.

Do I want peace throughout the entire NR2003 community? Yes.

Is it gonna happen? Probably not.

You have so many different sites producing so many "duplicate" mods. Tension is gonna happen. It's inevitable.

Certain people need to get their egos in check before any sort of unity can be attained.

Until then there will always be people scratching at each others' throats.

It's just human nature. Be it gun size, sword size, girlfriend's tit size, or mod greatness. Human nature. Never going to change.

nr2003 people are ego maniacs......who cares about who has the better sprint cup mod. they both suck in there own ways and so do the fps when playing them. i love the game and am grateful for the different mods but the mod makers are gonna act like god so whatever. you cannot ask certain people questions or post links its all bullspit. if people have nothing better than to complain about mods and ripping off others work......its a freaking game. papyrus was never intended for cot cars and such..........live life

1) If the FPS is bad you can tinker with the graphics. It isn't 100% the fault of the mod that the FPS is bad.

2) If NR2003 weren't meant for the COT, then Papyrus would have made it impossible to mod it like they did with NR2002.

Good to see you again Bobby. I heard you had some personal stuff going on. I hope everything is well for you now.

For me it's never been about who's mod is better and who's isn't. You and I both know who the problem child is over at DMR.

I have had run in's with just about everyone I talk to in some way, shape or form. And I have sucked it up, and buried the hatchet with pretty much everyone I wanted to bury the hatchet with. I want to do the same with you Bobby. We have had words, and I have been in the wrong too. I hope we can move on from the past. I know I already have.

But Todd and Denis. Dude, that ship has sailed. The fat lady has sung. Elvis has left the building.

You can consider DMR mods nonexistent at SRD. I'll shut these boards down before they get a nanosecond of support here.

Meh, it's just human nature. Ollie in "The Mist" pretty much summed up the meaning of life when he said "Put two or more humans in a room and we start picking sides and start dreaming up reasons to kill the other one. That's why we invented religion and politics."

It is inevitable no matter what. No matter what.

The ones who pursue a world where it is not that way are the crazy ones...

IMO SRD is as bad as any other part of the community by saying they will/won't support various mods. To me, coming from the Flight Unlimited/MSFS communities, where most mods (pay and freeware) conflict, pay vs free, detail vs FPS, the same things as NR2003. However in MSFS, modders as a rule acknowledge other mods do exist even if they don't support them.

I think every site has its own way that its run, but by saying you'll 'shut the boards before [they] get a microsecond of support' is sending the wrong message, in that it's elitist and kind of panicky.

Also, as someone working on their own Android game, games as a rule are not 'meant' or 'designed' or 'intended' to be modded, a good example is, yes, NR2002. Name me one NR2002 mod? Think about it, company X produces a licensed game, modding it would violate contracts. I'll use TDU2 as an example. They (Atari) have a zero tolerence policy on mods, you even mention modding in a post, you get a ban on any of their game forums (which has its own problems, esp when talking about computers). Another example's an indie game, model mods aren't allowed, but the devs there do acknowledge they exist (and have taken steps to lock down their models)

You're entitled to an opinion. I respect that.

But I think the ban sends the exact message I intended it to send. :D

I'm disagreeing with the message however, mainly as I come from a different background, I'm not challenging the ban or asking or telling you to remove it :) Just saying what I think.

In a perfect world, I'd love to have all the modders/mod teams working without whining or sniping at each other. However, people being people, you'll always get differences, yes you can bury the hatchet with some, but others are permanent

EDIT: About the whole 'designed to be modded' point.

No. Name me one recent PC game that's been designed with modding in mind, rFactor excepted? It's taken six years for modders to get NHL up to today's standards, three years to get Madden 08 up to today's 2011 season and standards. Neither game was 'designed' to be modded except limited in game customizing, which was limited.

It'd be like Papy giving you a paint shop with 5 colors and 8 symbols, that's how bad EA's PC games were for customizing. Yes you could use custom logos (for Madden at least) but they took the place of one of the actual logos

Yeah Matt, the whole thing is over with. I'll put it like this though - the Cup11 template is mostly my Cup10 template. But if you get it you will find no recognition of BCR effort anywhere. Not for the template, not the work we did to upgrade the windows and weight jacks, and not for the work we did on the spoiler. Is that stopping me from liking or running the mod? Nope. It does aggravate me - I'm pissed they replaced some of my badass gauges with inferior ones for no other reason than to stoke someone's ego. But I personally will no longer be part of any site vs. site or mod vs. mod crap, and from now on I will design what I want for any mod I want. I very much like the previews I have seen of your NWS mod - especially those gauges and 3d switches.

You need to make another 'edit' dude...When 2003 was released the designers knew it would be the last one thanks to EA throwing a bunch of money at NASCAR, so they released all the tools ot the public specifically to keep the game alive and relevant. Which is why they can't demand 2003 stop being modded now - they can go after you for hacks, but they did indeed have modding in mind when it was released.

Fair point, you got me there. I was thinking that in 2003 their mindset was like 2002, no mods. I'm still saying that they didn't 'intend' for stuff like the COT to be made, and FIRST have gone after people for mods in the past (e.g. Tim Wheatley IIRC) claining some reason or other, esp now iRacing's been on the block. I honestly don't think it'll be too long before they go after modders again claining iR copyrights

EDIT: I got a store copy in 2003, when I had no internet and heard tales of an editing disc, was that ever released as a disc or was it just hearsay? I know that in Europe there was no such disc at all, people had to learn by hand

It's not a disc per se, it's a set of tools called Sandbox - which is now much harder to find but still available if you know where to look.

Which was rumored to be on a disc and given away with NR2003 in stores, was it ever or was it solely a DL job?

I have Sandbox on here, just curious as to whether the rumors were ever true
