Stewart loves to race on dirt, but the asphalt on Sundays pays the bills..You can't break yur leg on Monday and race for a championship on Sunday......Johnson doesn't race on Mondays.

Tony also doesn't sleep with nascar. Unlike certain other people that could get away with murder in this sport.

Max Papis and Boris Said have other commitments this weekend in Grand Am. Someone else would have to practice and qualify and they could fly in for Sunday, but that seems impractical when there are other options available.

According to Jayski, Boris Said is on the entry list in the #32 Hendrickcars.com Ford (Still cracks me up). If Boris was planning on racing anyway, might as well put him in the #14. Maybe with some good equipment he can have a shot. Anyone remember this?

gotta love how soon as a NASCAR driver breaks their leg in a sprint car, suddenly everything needs to be upgraded to make everything safer, but when a non-nationally recognized driver gets hurt in a similar way, no one cares....

I've been saying it since Josh Burton got killed in May. It's stupid. They way the caller on SiriusXM Nascar Radio just explained it, it looked like Tony tried to miss him and the RF got pushed back. Your telling me there's no way to prevent that from crushing someone's legs? Anyway, this whole thing really just makes me more and more mad. Here's something if anyone wants it. Thank God Smoke will be ok.

I don't know if you know how to read or not but several people in this group have mentioned local drivers and, in your words, "no namers" being hurt and how they're sick of seeing it. I'm with everyone else. I'm tired of seeing and hearing news almost every week of someone getting seriously hurt or fatally hurt in these cars. I do know there's really nothing you can do to make these cars safer. I'm actually all for these guys racing in whatever they want but just cuz I like it doesn't mean hearing the bad news makes it easier.

Maybe a firewall would help...I know the sprint cars at my local track(at least the ones I've looked in which is about 95% of them) don't have firewalls and you can see the engine from the cockpit. One guy last year ended up on fire during practice when his engine went up in flames...not that you could see the flames but pretty scary moment.

I guess I never really paid attention to them to realize they didn't have one. Now that you mention it, that could be something. Would it prevent the front of the car from going straight back though is my question. Btw, for the guy that said not local. Bob Felmlee, well known Western PA sprint car driver, almost killed at Tri-City Speedway. Think it was 1999. 2007-ish, Danny Holtgraver. Broke his neck(or back). Now he is racing with the All-star Circuit of Champions. The list goes on and on and on. Enough is enough. Thankfully nobody I've ever watched has died in a sprint car, however, you kind of have that feeling that it is coming. Ed Lynch Jr, Joey Saldana. Hell, Google Sammy Swindell and the push truck from I wanna say 2000, 2001 at Lernerville. That had to be one of the scariest things I've ever seen in my life. We presumed they were all dead. It's stupid how this cars just push the front straight back. NO other car does that. Not Indycars, not nascar.

Really the only other thing is to make the sprint cars bigger...not much more they can do.

>People Bitching about people bitching about wanting more safety

>Racing

It seems that people tend to forget that no matter what Racing is a sport in which death is ALWAYS a possibility thank god it hasnt happened in nascar in a decade or so.

Hell this past weekend a sidecar rider was Killed after being struck by a fellow driver.

Racers are gonna race and they all know the risks long before getting in the car. Accident happen...nuff said!

A local modified driver here back in 04 or 05 broke his neck after getting turned into the frontstretch wall head on...the week he was cleared, he was back in the car and won the main event! Almost every driver I've seen injured at my local track(which is only a few) has gotten back in the car. All but 1 that I can think of...

After watching the video, if anything I'd say it looked like the impact with the other driver is what would cause the injury, rather than the flipping afterward. It kinda vaguely reminds me of Paul Dana's crash.

Either way, I hope for all the best for Stewart. He's always fun to watch race, and its gonna be weird this weekend not masterfully taming the road courses as he always does.

And as for his stand in this weekend, I could see him picking up Ron Fellows from TBR, and TBR maybe calling either Justin Marks or Victor Gonzalez again, or, my personal choice, get Bobby Labonte in the car.
