RCR should enter Townley in all of the ARCA companion events so he can get some seat time, He needs a mentor like Bowyer or Burton to work with him, remember Tom Cruise in Days of Thunder?? but on the other hand he's had 2 years of Nationwide under his belt, somethings got to gibe.

You're right. It's the stepping stone to Cup, but somehow, these developmental programs are doing more harm than good to this series, it seems.

Regardless, Bowyer didn't look all that hot tonight either, even though he finished 11th. Whether that's just because he was thrown in at the 11th hour, or RCR's Nationwide program has just fallen off, I think they need to get things straightened out.

It's not like Townley hasn't been fast this year. It's just that he doesn't have good car control. Regardless, he steadily improved last year after Kvapil got in his car at Richmond, so it should be interesting to see, provided what RCR is saying is true and Townley didn't get fired.

11th place in a wrecked car? that was damn good. Noone will know anything about JWT probably until Monday or Tuesday if he is or isnt released from RCR the media is taking shots at the dark right now.
But from what Clint said in Quals and pre race he think JWT was shaking up badly and will be back with the team. So who knows and yes RCR nationwide program might need some work but with Townley new to the team, He doesnt know what it needs so why not have a champ get in it and shake it down a race or two.

Townley had to have some sort of ok in this...after all, you have to get the ok from the sponsor for a driver change...and we all know who sponsors him.

But then again, I can see the flip side of the coin...If the team says you sit out, you sit out...unless you want to get released.

He's entered in the ARCA race at Talladega for Venturini. And I remember really pulling for him to get around Thompson and Gerhart back at Daytona, considering he was my pick to win the race.

Nobody does. Look at every development driver they've had since Bowyer made it to Cup:

- They were apparently going to have David Gilliland run the #2 for the Busch Series championship in 2007, but they lost out on him to Yates back when Gilliland was a hot commodity
- Timothy Peters was hired and fired after 3 races or something.
- Tim McCreadie got completely hosed out of a ride.
- Stephen Leicht got gradually hosed, going from having a 23 race schedule to a 13 race schedule, before it eventually became 9, and then getting the boot altogether when Holiday Inn left the team.

Add to that list Brandon Miller (pushed out because Harvick wanted to run the full '06 schedule)

And remember: If Townley ain't there, Zaxby's ain't there...

Sponsership is what kept several of these guys from rides and its not Childress fault that the economy is low that noone want to invest in race teams unless you have a driver that can contend. Childress does have drivers and can build winning cars Townley maybe a decent driver some day hell JJ when he was in Nationwide/busch wasnt very impressive but damn look at him cup. But look at Townley's nascar career not that great and now the team he was with last year is out preforming him this year has weight I am sure on the choice to let him go. Oh and JWT isn't consider on of Childress Development drivers.

Austin Dillon, NNS, Camping World Truck Series
Ty Dillon, Dirt Modifieds
Tim George Jr., ARCA
Ryan Gifford, Late Model Series
Blake Koch, K&N Pro Series
Sean Caisse, K&N Pro Series

But anyways I am sure there is more to this story then has been reported yet.

You can throw Jesus Hernandez & Jeffery Earnhardt in there as RCR development drivers as well since RCR & DEI/EGR pretty much share that part of the program, although I'm not sure what those two are doing this season.

I think Hernandez might be in the K&N Pro Series, but I forget. DEI is trying to put something together for Earnhardt with a team in the Nationwide Series.

Also, according to Mike Joy, it sounds like Townley was benched for the night after practice.

Add to that list Brandon Miller (pushed out because Harvick wanted to run the full '06 schedule)

Then again, Miller wasn't all that good from what I remember. Then again, the blame probably falls on Harvick for that one.

Speaking of which, Harvick's development program is even worse...Which is actually funny, considering he drove for RCR in the Busch Series for the longest time. Birds of a feather...

The report is now that Townley will meet with RCR on Tuesday. He'll be out of the car for Texas, but will return at Talladega.

Pretty good plate racer?

Although, going off my high horse, he does have a good record on plate tracks. Except maybe Daytona this year.

Well, he was in the top five before he got slapped with that pit cone penalty. He never did recover from that.

First thing most the guys you listed as passed Development Drivers for RCR left because of lack of sponsership not because Richard didnt want them or they didnt poorly noone wanted to sponser them.
The Same with KHI development team witch was Ricky and Cale Gale. Carmichael moved to a new team this year still supported by KHI trucks and Cale was let go because lack of sponsership. You guys want to point the finger at poor Developmental Driver Teams look at Roush he has brought a few guys up just to dump them, yeah some he claims was sponsership but that hasnt slowed him down with others

Kevin Harvick has managed to get sponsorship for his team by the boatloads. There's no excuse why he couldn't get companies to commit to Gale.

My guess is that Harvick is just a narcissistic a-hole who is full of ****.

Danny O'Quinn I presume? It's a shame there too, after all, he did beat out a formerly established Cup driver in John Andretti to win ROTY honors back in the Busch Series. Somehow, I think if he had been given a shot at that 6 ride he might've figured it out by now and been accomplishing more than Ragan has.

I am starting to see no matter how to explain it that your going to think badly of RCR/khi no matter what is said.

That was the first to come to mind.

So much for progress in the Nationwide Series. First Townley gets pulled, and now JRM fires Kelly Bires for Jamie McMurray. Twitter reports are also saying that Townley has officially been fired by RCR.

There's no justice in the world.

I guess that is why I never use twitter I will wait for an offical report from RCR. The Nationwide series has been a cup play ground for the last 5 years or so. There has alway been Buschwackers but not fulltime like the last 5 years.

Lynching was a tradition (Particularly in the South) for many years.

Just because something is traditional, does that automatically make it right?
