If the trucks would go to dirt, all the adjustment they would really need is dirt tires, similar to a late model tire, and a slanted splitter/nose similar to what you see on some lates. also, teams may have to remove or trim down the right side to allow the body to roll over with the softer suspension setup for dirt, other than that the cars should not be a problem as cars with similar chassis designs race regularly on dirt tracks everywhere

also, this would be a great time for some of the higher-class dirt teams to land a ride or build a truck for this race, you could potentially see guys like Brett Hearn, Rick Eckert, Matt Sheppard, Decker, Schatz, Kinser, Etc. in cars for this race

Which would be good, am I the only one wanting the Prelude to use trucks modified for dirt now with a smattering of dirt stars too? That to my mind would be good

I have mixed feelings about it. If you want to endorse an Ohio track, Mansfield track is still there. It's for sale, but it's still there! Promote another race there. The previous owner wasn't the greatest and that's why NASCAR left Mansfield. Bring them back. Great track.

This, I was really sad when NCTS left Mansfield and it went for sale. I never really knew the relevance of the two til they actually stopped. That was my only shot at seeing a NASCAR race locally.

I doubt the Prelude is going to use anything other than late models, since it is the preliminary, no money, no points race for the nascar guys before the DLM Dream 100 itself

There won't be a Prelude alltogether.
?AGGRESSIVE EXPANSION? THEME SETS TONE FOR ELDORA?S 60TH SEASON
Eldora’s commitment to the best possible experience for its loyal fans and competitors attending the Dirt Late Model Dream will result in a schedule change to Dream Week. The logistics associated with the Dream’s expansion for the dirt Late Model teams that supplied the cars for the Prelude, along with speedway officials who must transition the facility, prevents the Prelude to the Dream from being included on the 2013 calendar. Advance ticket holders to the 2012 event will retain their renewal rights for the next scheduled Prelude to the Dream event going forward.

I have to bump this. Jim Utter is reporting on Twitter that Eldora is a done deal. Then he went off about it having no safer barriers. Still no official word. Maybe a announcement tomorrow?

His tweet was "#Nascar Trucks to Eldora in 2013. No SAFER barriers. Not even a damn hospital. Lets just race in the parking lot.Smh" He has more tweets about it also.

Then we could have "Dirt Ringers", the equivalent or Road Ringers.

I like the sound of that!

Update from SPEED (Credit to SPEED):

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will race for the first time on a dirt track next season, the Charlotte Observer is reporting.

The trucks will run at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, according to the report. The track, owned by NASCAR team owner and driver Tony Stewart, is a half-mile dirt facility and one of the most famous dirt ovals in the country.

Stewart has hosted special events involving top NASCAR drivers at the track, which seats about 20,000.

The track does not have SAFER barriers, a safety innovation NASCAR has required in recent seasons.

None of NASCAR’s major series has run on a dirt surface since 1970, when Richard Petty won the final dirt race in Raleigh, NC.

As NASCAR moved toward bigger tracks and sought to trim an unwieldy schedule, the dirt speedways that had been the foundation for the sport in the early years faded away.

The possibility of the Sprint Cup or Nationwide Series running on dirt is considered very unlikely.

This is going to be so awesome! No doubt it will be in the last two months or so of the season to give everyone plenty of time so its not so much of a noobfest like an openspeedway race lol.

Keep this in mind though: would you rather have only one track unique to the truck series like it is now, or more than one?

Sounds Legit. XD

I am all for different tracks in the Top 3 series BTW. Just not looking forward to seeing the top 3 on dirt again. Seems like a desperate move or something. If they impliment this as a All-Star or something im all for it. Points racing wise.....mehhh.
