tv distance question

Ok I hooked up my 42" plasma tv too my computer and want to play nascar 2003 and some ps3 games. How far away should I sit from the tv? Thank you Stacey

Try this, it's based on the theory of 65 degrees viewing angle, but you should be able to bodge around the viewing distance until the calculated FOV is close to the one you actually use, this is for hardcore gaming whereby kinetic depth perception is of greater importance than eyecandy, so you might find the FOV is too small for your liking, but it'll get you in the right ballpark.

The height the monitor is mounted at will also have a bearing, you'll find it all very uncomfortable if the monitor is too high or too low, general rule of thumb is your eyes should be level with the center of the monitor.
