Anybody use a TV (LCD/Plasma) for a PC monitor?

I was looking at getting that Triplehead2Go thing, but that plus the price of two other monitors was kinda :err:

So then I was looking at some TV's and for like $450 I can get a 32" LCD tv from Walmart that has a max PC rez of 1920 x 1080, plus I could use that for HD PS3 as well as watching two races or football games or whatever at the same time. And I'm sure if I look around at some other stores I'd be able to find a bigger TV/Display for a lower price.

So I was wondering if anybody had any experience with anything like this and if I could get and tips, pros/cons, etc.

HD LCD tv's can make perfect computer monitors! I've done it before with a Vizio and it looked awesome.

I used to race on my 52" Plasma (LG). AMAZING...but as time went by, the lack of a sturdy desk or anything to put my computer/keyboard on made it difficult as my homemade simrig didn't have spots for anything but a wheel, seat, and legs.

I run my races on my 26" Westinghouse purchased at Target after thanksgiving. Be sure to do your research before picking up the tv. A few things to consider:

1) What type of port does your graphics card accept?
2) How are you going to play your computer's audio?
3) What size tv do you want to run on?
4) How many peripherals are you going to connect (dvd, ps3, xbox, etc)?

I have a Radeon HD 4670 which has HDMI out with Audio over the HDMI. Simplifies a lot of stuff when I want to watch Hulu through my tv. There is a problem with most of the Westinghouse's that cause your screen to flicker when you're plugged in over HDMI. For some reason it doesn't like PC's, but while inside a game, it doesn't do it. Beware of Vizio for the Pop of Death.

Biggest thing....be sure to do your homework. I sometimes regret not doing my research before picking up my tv because of the flicker. I'm not too disturbed by it, but when I'm clicking through folders and it does it each click it can get dull quickly.

A Vizio was the one I was looking at from Walmart, but then I went to Best Buys site and saw an Insignia (not sure on the spelling, but it's their house-brand) and it was the same size, but cheaper lol.

When I realized it was already September I also realized that Christmas was coming up fast, and "Black Friday" was coming even faster, so I decided I'm gonna start working on my "tech" shopping list. That way I can figure out what I want so when the day comes I can get in and get out without having to push too many crazy old ladies out of the way :twitcy:

Honestly, I was surprised at Target's Black Friday sale. There were easily 60 tv's on special (26" for $300) and they had the carts sitting right there next to them. Grab a Cart, Grab a Tv, and Go. Be sure to do that homework though ;) You don't want to end up with a TV you have to take back, especially after a sale has ended.

I'm currently using my 22 inch Dynex as my PC and HDTV for my room. Works great! Had the tv since November of last year and not one problem! Not bad for $200!
