So I am taking my best shot at making my own scene from the bottom up that will allow me to import flats just like the Bullring scenes. Nothing groundbreaking, just something I have been interested in learning. I imported my cad as a step file and got to mapping the flat. However I am finding the mapping to be ridiculously tedious. Anyone with experience know what I may be able to do to get the body edges to align?
(Flat I am using courtesy the Bullring 2015.)
Also feel free to take/play around with my empty .MAX scene (find it zipped un NASCARtest2) and make it yours. The geometry is decent enough for basic rendering imo.

Are you trying to add the bulling template to a custom 3d model you made? Or are you just making a new render scene with the bullring 3d model files?

It is a 3d model I made in Creo and imported into 3ds MAX. On that model, I want to be able to simply upload my own paint scheme flats just like would be done on the Bullring 3d scenes. All of the model files will be my own from the ground up, barring limitations of my own inabilities! It will get my feet wet in 3ds as well as giving me a good baseline to make more detailed scenes in the future. Thanks!

1st shot at the 3d model:

yeah the bullring template is an unwrapped UV set for that specific bullring 3d model, so trying to unwrap your 3d model for a template of another 3d model will not work as precise if the geometry is different in any way. Or if you make it line up some of the textures will be very warped and skewed. The only way to make a texture fit on your model perfectly is to unwrap its uv's and then texture that.

If your goal is to have your own NR2003 render scenes then you can use the bulling 3ds max models and create a scene with those models since they are already unwrapped and the templates will fit them,

oh, I didn't realize the chicken came before the egg. That makes perfect sense. I guess I will just import the model like you suggest and roll from there. Thank ya much.

Yeah 3d modeling is a very complex and long process, even for tiny models it can take a long time to complete.
