weird ai difficulty

ok, so i ran a race at california akm on 104% ai difficulty. I was able to lead 77 of the first 80 laps, simply dominating, until i blew a valve and finished 43rd. I recently reinstalled my game, and today I ran a race at california akm at 103% ai difficulty. I could barely manage to stay in the top 5. Same setup, same track conditions, same everything. wtf?

Same weather conditions? Maybe you had adjusted the ratings since you've re-installed?

i think thats what it is. the ratings are higher for the drivers. i didnt realize it'd make them better, i thought the ratings were based on how they differ from other drivers, not how strong they are from a base level of 0

You said you did 104% first, then 103% the next time, maybe that had anything to do with it? Maybe not? lol

i did 101% and was barely able to manage a 2nd place finish. it was such a good competitive race. i restarted 12th with 25 laps to go, and almost got the lead, but smacked the wall with 3 laps to go and had to settle for 2nd
