Alright, I usually don't come here to post problems about my computer but I really am desparate for some answers. So about 2 weeks ago, I turn on my computer and boot up like normal. Evrything's fine...I get to the Welcome screen and log in...It usually shows my desktop icons and everything instantly, but for some reason it was taking 2 minutes to load my personal settings and when it was done loading my personal settings, I got to my desktop. But there was no taskbar or icons...Just my wallpaper -_- After waiting a little longer, everything started to load up and my taskbar and icons were back...But it took a good 7 minutes just to do that...I ran CCleaner, found some registry errors and fixed them. Ran IOrbit's Avanced SystemCare 5 PRO Deep Care...Fixed a buncha erros and defragged my whole PC. Then I rebooted...Bootup was a little faster, then I got to my Welcome screen again. Logged in but it was still taking forever to reach my desktop and my desktop was still not showing my taskbar and icons for a long time. Did a couple of google searches and found out it had something to do with explorer.exe...I researched further and saw multiple people having the same problem. I Ctrl+Alt+Del'ed and opened up task manager (when I booted up again) and typed in explorer.exe. It opened up my docs folder and shortly my taskbar and icons cameback. But I shouldn't have to do this all the time...I tried scanning with MBAM in safe mode, but for some reason it kept on qutting after hitting "scan". I even renamed the exe and everything...No dice. I might have a virus. Ran Kaspersky's Anti-Rookit Tool...Found nothing...I also opened up MSconfig and unchecked some stuff that didn't need to be opened on startup...

Nothing.

I really need help with this!

Here's what my desktop looks like after logging on...

:(

These geeks are spooky good!

There is some hoop-jumping involved, but if you do have something nasty, this will hook you up to a clean bill of health.

Just download the Hijack/Trend Micro program from Cnet, and post your logs on forums at SpywareInfo, or Computer Cops, and their members :notworthy: look them over. Can't be beat!

This program may not fix all your issues but it sure cleans out a ton of well hidden viruses and spyware that can slow your computer down. It's a free program called super anti-spyware. I use it all the time and it really cleans out junk other virus scanners that I use never even find. It's helped speed things up before to:

SUPERAntiSpyware.com | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!

I've been using the free edition for years and it's great. I even used it once on a friends computer that was severely plagued with a virus and almost no hope of recovery and got everything back to normal =) No guarantee it'll fix all your issues but I figured it was worth mentioning.

I ran SAS and found 154 threats o_O

I haven't downloaded anything weird but... Man 154 viruses... But explorer.exe is STILL taking forever to load. Trying option #2, which is to create a new user profile and see if it occurs there.

EDIT: Created the new account, no delay at all. Logged off the new account and logged on old account, no delay either. Then I rebooted. Logged on old account first. Delay reoccurred. Opened up Task Manager, found a weird process called "DelayLoad.exe", have a feeling it's this causing explorer.exe to take long to load.

EDIT #2: Copying all of the "My Documents" folder from the old account to new one... Do I also need to copy all of my program files in my Local Disk?

Sorry for the multiple posts, but how do I transfer all of my Firefox Preferences from my old account to my new one?

Sorry for the multiple posts, but how do I transfer all of my Firefox Preferences from my old account to my new one?

preferences such as bookmarks and such? To export your bookmarks simply go to the menu: Bookmarks > Show all Bookmarks. In there on that menu go to the Import and Backup tab then 'export bookmarks to html'.

When on your new user account in firefox go back to this menu and import your html bookmarks. All of them should show up again. If you use a favorites bar you may have to manually redo that but shouldn't be too hard.

EDIT: Nevermind, got all my personas and toolbar settings back.

Now just a few more things...Switch user isn't working for some reason. I ran CCleaner too.

Nice work Mystical. Your "Armory Digital Racing Designs" link is worth more than the price of admission. (y) Sweet.

Sigh...

So after I copied all my files from my old account to new one, it worked fine, but now the delay is appearing on the new account...Opened up task manager and found 5 svchost.exe files and one was using 90% CPU...Killed the task and explorer.exe came back quickly.

But for some reason this happens out of the blue:

Thanks to Extreme Overclockers

There's the culprit. Speak geek?

Got the link from EOC. :)

EDIT/Ohya: Black Viper's got the down & dirt (racing) on non-essential services you can disable. Think it's under Content.

Mohammed Hossain fix.
