I'm gonna just throw this around and see how the response is.

I want to build a website that features custom downloads such as, wheels, textures, models, scenes and anything else that can be used in 3dstudio max. I want it to be a place where you can stop by and download some cool things for your own scenes. I want to also offer scene downloads. These will be custom scenes that I make. You can import your own car models and so forth if you want. All the scenes will be Mental Ray for more realistic results and ease. I want to also post video tutorials, hdri 360 images and backplates. I won't post any paint flats because I think there are a lot of sites out there that already do that. My biggest goal is for my 3dsmax nascar site to be compatable with both bullring and roux. I won't show favoritism. So I would like to include both cot models in all my scenes. If you have another mod you want in the scene, just import it. A forum maybe included. But that is on the back burner.

Let me know your ideas. I've been cooking this up for about a week so far. What would you like to see with a site like this? Do you think it would fly? Would you use it? Let me know what you think.

I would love to see it.

As for the site being good it depends on the content you put up. But I don't think that will be a problem for you ;)

My biggest concern, is the fact that no one knows who I am and I really don't want to step on the toes of the bigger names in this community. I want to do my part and supply what I think could be used. It's something I love to do and wanna share. But I don't want to take away from anything or anyone that is already here and established.

Well I haven't seen any sites that offer what you've stated above. All at one place. I think with the tutorials and stuff other than scenes will keep it alive.

Yeah, I think that is a great idea. I have been wanting a site like that for awhile now. Onwe other idea that you kindof mentioned would be to offer a support forum maybe. You could even have some other 3ds max "veterans" from the NR2003 community come on and help when people have questions.

I don't think that'll be a problem, imo you're one of the best there is. I'd love to see a site like that.

I think a support forum would be cool, simply because I remember when I started out, there was no help. I had to randomly push buttons and do this and that to see what they did and it was so time consuming and so forth. I think there should be a place where people can post questions about the scenes or about a scene they are building and they can seek and ask for guidance and support.

I really wanna jump start a new generation of 3dsmax users in this field and kinda step up the bar for modeling, texturing and scene building.

I would love to see a one stop destination for 3ds resources. I think it would serve this community real well.
A couple years ago I hadnt even thought about trying to learn 3ds because it just seemed so complex that it would push my patience too far. After getting the program and seeing some different tutorials and scenes and what not, I started learning it and realized that it was not nearly as difficult as I thought it would be to do up some basic renders.
I think a site like you've described would really encourage people to try to learn the program as well as offer some help and guidance along the way.
