I'm using the Logitech WingMan Formula Force GP and I do ok with it. If you don't have a wheel yet, I'd suggest the Momo w/ force feedback. You can find it at Fry's Electronics for about $99......the WingMan for about $49.

As far as the settings, I always run force feedback at 100%.

FFB is a matter of personal preference. I have the Black Logitech Momo and run FFB at about 20%.

Yeah I can see it now. "Honey, I'm gonna use that $1200 dollars we were gonna use for the baby's room and spend it on this racing wheel so I can spend more time in front of the computer", "but don't worry, it's one of the best wheels so it's ok"
Haha that would go over like a Ho' in church. lol, :)

Momo's are awesome, but about every 3-6 months the peddals go to crap. But I found out that if you have 2 different sets of steering wheels/peddals, and you switch the peddals from the failing set to another one that has already failed, they work again. Ex: Wheel A & Peddals A are in storage, you are racing with Wheel B & Peddals B. Take Wheel B and combine with Peddal A, or vice versa, they work again. But I am waiting for the new Logitech wheel to come out, which is gonna be awesome, $300 but meh, if the peddals last, it will be worth it.

I found that worked too WC, however, if you don't have 2 sets just take them apart and blow the pots out with some compressed air and voila...now they workie.

Just remember how they came apart :)
