Wheel vs Keyboard Debate

Well since I'm using keyboard, I find it very hard to maintain pit road speed, which either means me going over the limit and being penalized, or going super slow causing me to lose like 10 spots. I know some are going to say that I just need to practice or something, but are there any techniques I could use to maintain my speed?

Seriously, get an Xbox controller or something. It will eliminate any keyboard problems (which there are a lot of).

Here's how I used to do it:

Gun it, then break. Then repeat until at your pit box.

It never made me lose many spots.

I use 50 for throttle and brake input, for example when going through Daytona pit road, (which max speed allowed is 55 mph) I try to hit the throttle key as many times as possible to get 50-53 mph. lol

Do you use manual tranny? if so then just upshift to 3rd or 4th and you should be able to stay within 1-2 mph of the speed, it's what I do under caution also

What HMAC80 said. I mean if you have the money to spend on a wheel and pedals then go for it. But, if you're like me, go to Wal-Mart or even Best Buy and get a gamepad or Xbox controller. Hell even if you have a GameCube(lol) Xbox (1st gen) or PS1/2 controller go to Wal-Mart or Best Buy and get a USB adapter for console controllers. I picked one up at Wal-Mart a few years ago and I can even use my PS2 wheel and pedals for NR2003, along with the controllers.

I have a Logitech DFGT wheel and pedal set.

I have a Momo and pedals.

I used to use the keyboard and became very good at driving with it. Now I use my wheel.

I use my wheel for iRacing, I use my controller for NR2003. Dunno why.

No, I have four wheels and pedals. I do race on a laptop but that's because I can't afford two computers.

I've raced with an Xbox controller before. It's actually a lot better than my MOMO. Doesn't strain my arms on a road course.
