Wheel vs Keyboard Debate

I've raced with an Xbox controller before. It's actually a lot better than my MOMO. Doesn't strain my arms on a road course.

Strained arms are more realistic.

Yes. This racing simulation was intended to be used with a steering wheel and pedals.

I don't see xbox or ps3 anywhere at these boards. This is the wrong place for a keyboard Jockey using their Hubble telescope view to race.

The only sim i used cockpit view on was iracing, because it was accurate and just felt right, you could feel all the car movements, i don't in nr2003 cause you can't feel what the car is doing as well.

Matt whats your beef with keyboards? This game is only as much a simulation as someone wants to make it. If i wanted to feel like i'm getting ready to run a real life Cup race, then honestly i'm going iRacing. But I race online 2-3 nights a week for a couple hours, then move on with my life. I put as much time into my setups and drive just as hard and clean as the guy next to me with his superstar g27, so where's the problem? I just dont get why some people take a game so seriously.

People come here asking why they can't drive pit road speed, or why they can't go fast or are always wrecking. Or that know one wants to race around them online because they are all over the place.

Year after year this gets asked, and it's the same problem.

I use a G-27 and honestly I don't understand how you can even race with the keyboard. Using a controller I can understand if you don't have money for a wheel but I don't think you should be playing the game with a keyboard cause you don't get the full feel out of the game pushing down on arrows. Besides this game is expensive if you actually bought it which should mean you can at least get a simple controller.

If you're more casual, then a controller works just fine, it's what I used for a long time. If you want to race online, you should probably get a wheel. Most leagues would prefer you have one and some may even require it. Keyboard is probably the worst way to go. I've tried it before and it's just flat out the absolute worst way to drive nr2003. Those who have mastered the keyboard get kudos, because it is a pain to figure out. You can do just fine with a quality gamepad, but the best way to enjoy it (and maintain your speeds) is with a wheel.

My problem is the new kids on the block invading these boards installing their illegal copy of nr2003 on their laptops. And using a keyboard to drive a race car simulation. Asking the same dumb questions, and getting the same answers.

That's my problem.

I've seen this guy on the keys. If he had never mentioned it I would thought he were using a wheel or controller.

That's not always the case. A good chunk of these 'new kids' buy the game themselves. Myself included.
