I just don't understand why someone should be so offended with people who play for fun. It is a GAME. It's just absurd.

Okay, I quit.

As I said already. This "GAME" which was inteded to be a "RACING SIMULATION" much like iRacing is today was constructed with the intent that people would buy it to see what it's like to race a real nascar race car with a steering wheel and pedals. At the time, it was the closest thing you were going to get to driving the real thing.

It offends me that these new kids on the block come to my boards with their laptops and want to know why they have crappy graphics #1. And #2 why they are unstable driving around a track on their keyboard.

I've seen it go on for years here, and I am tired of reading it. Hopefully all you keyboard racers and x box controller users are offended enough by my comments that you log out, don't come back and ask the same stupid questions again. That's what I would really like to see (y)

One question just out of curiosity. Why the beef with laptops? I've owned two that have run the sim just fine.

Good grief, guys, he only wanted to know how to maintain pit speed under caution with a keyboard. That wasn't worth throttling him for. lol

So you want me to leave and never come back just because I use a controller?

I wasn't aware any specific controlling device was needed to Design a car... This is Sim Racing Design right?

I don't know. The visual of seeing someone using a steering wheel and pedals with a 15" laptop screen doesn't fit the bill as a "sim racer" for me.

I hope he doesn't think I am just singling him out. These rants are for all you keyboard/xbox controller jockeys.

So you want me to leave and never come back just because I use a controller?

You're not going around asking the dumb questions. But as long as your asking, sure, hit the skids if you're going to keep getting offended by my digs at keyboard/xbox jockeys. It's not going to get any better for ya,lol.

Is it ok if I'm using a dining room chair instead of a racing seat.

Alright alright I won't post in this thread anymore :D

MOMO steering wheel and pedals for the entirety of my NR2k3 career (since 2003).

I do, however, use a laptop currently. 19 inch DELL XPS...and it works better than fine. 150+ fps. :)

lol. Me too. And I sit in an awkward spot because I have my wheel on a desk that is next to my PC. So I turn my monitor and that's how I race.

Me personally, I would prefer you use on of these since they do a ton of advertising on here.
Game Racing Seat. the best place to put your Steering Wheel | playseats

But unfortunately, these aren't free either. You're going to have to actually pay for something involved with your hobby. :)

And Pepsiracer, stop speaking for me and telling members what I will do next. It' an argument. People are more than welcome to disagree with me. :)

What is wrong with a laptop? lol

The 4:3 ratio that had been used for ages on desktops and televisions is no longer used because it doesn't represent human, binocular vision correctly. 16:9 is closer to our perceived eyesight and is the reason that widescreen took over as the standard. Desktops are going to become obsolete soon, too. They're power guzzlers, overheat easily, and aren't as space efficient as laptops. Laptops are currently on par with low-end-to-mid gaming systems, and within the next decade, desktops are most likely going to become the minority once interchangeable, powerful, external graphics and sound cards achieve a market-viable price.

And yes, I use both a desktop and a laptop.

As for some people not having wheels, not everyone can afford a $100+ peripheral solely for the use of one genre of gaming. Even the most beat up MOMOs still go for $60 or more in most places. It's not necessarily a matter of them just being newbies who are going to use far chase 24/7, there are just more important matters in the world than buying an expensive, optional device (much less a large, specifically-designed chair that can't be used for much else). That's not even looking into high end computers, which are definitely going to be out of the ballpark if a wheel is not a viable purchase.

Maybe they like the game as a simulation ALOT but they can't AFFORD a wheel or controller and have to deal with what they HAVE until they can AFFORD one! And they just want to know how to control their pit road speed or car UNTIL they can AFFORD a steering wheel! And honestly an xbox controller works just as well as a wheel, you can control the throttle fairly well and steer the car fairly well, not much of a difference, but a controller or a wheel are definitely better than a wheel.
